Hi ppl.
I've been fiddling around trying to come up with a scorp setup that would be fit for solo PvP.
Now the question is, what lvl of damage and jamming probability do you think I should be aiming for?

Edited by: lyrenna on 24/05/2007 17:48:37 hmm not so great for pvp but something like
4xt2 cruise 2xheavy nos 3-4xjammer 3-2xsensor boost 1xmwd 1xscram 1x1600mm 1xdmg ctrl 1xeanm 1xcpr/exp hardener
or
high what ever 3-4xdamp 3-2xsensor booster 1xmwd 1xscram some armor tank
but scorp not so good for solo, its nice for gangs and also its always called primary ============================
when you armor tank a raven god kills a kitten.

Don't bother, you won't pop a hauler with 4 cruise launchers. Well, you might, but ...
*shrug*
3 cruise launchers, nos, neut sensor booster, webber, warp disruptor, 2x damps, 3x ECMs 2x SDA II, 1x gravimetric backup, 1x signal amplifier.
5x EC-600 and 5x warrior IIs
Works fairly well, but isn't fast to kill.

Like I said I'm not after setups just figures... I aint planning on using cruise, that will only get me bout 250 dps.

Edited by: Tuea on 24/05/2007 19:47:35 You sound savvy so you probably know already but through experience I really think an ewar scorp is hard work for solo pvp. While jammed almost everything but a gank ship is going to be able to tank you either indefinately or until their cap boosters run out. In both cases they are going to be making a run for a station/gate and really have plenty of time to make it in the majority of cases.
My personal preference for solo scorp flying is the classic tank, the fact that they can fire at you is the carrot that's needed for them to stick around. The eventual win obviously depends on the quality of your tank, I always run a web and scramble + general tank, but also carry different 6 slot tanks for specific ships. When I bump into something if I can I will dock, fit then bait - not many pilots are scared of a solo scorp so it's not hard finding action.
There are of course limitations, like not being able to break an everlasting tank & ships like nosing doms are hard, but really all you can do is play to the strengths of the ship you have & hope for the best. You certainly get more kills this way than with ewar - there's alot of cap boosting setups out there which are more than manageable.

I'll put it another way... will 600dps and 2 heavy NOS be enough to break tanks 1 vs 1 or should I be aiming for more?

Yes but I can't think of a scorp setup that does 600 dps :)

4 x torps with rage ammo loaded? You'll need a full rack of target painters for that...

How friendly.
Anyway if you can get 600 dps out of a scorp then ***** on, either with neutrons or torps. Personally I'm still a sceptic on that side. Scorp in general is a support ship rather than solo.

Nothing personal just if people don't know how to do it then its probably best kept a secret than spread around so everyone can use it.

4x torps w/ rage 2x heavy nos
4x multispec 1x 20k point 1x web 1x painter 1x MWD
2x sda 1x BCU 1x dmg control
rigs:
1x missile damage 1x missile ROF 1x CCC
Drones: 2x heavy painter drones 5x hobgoblin
Replace with T2/named where possible / required. This is a very nice HAC-killed. Hold them down, suck them dry and slowly kill them, too.

nah, scorp no good for solo.
It is awesome for gangs and fleet though..but not coz of jamming, but coz u should fit it for uber tank, active probably, coz u'll get called primary always:D let them waste their ammo and time by trying to put out jammer:D
Supplement your active shield tank with 4-5 heavy noses and maybe one remote armor/shield rep to help your mates..
but for solo, i wont bother using it..

Solo scorps are hard to pull off.
1) They're big and fat and turn slowly. Very difficult to chance anything other than another battleship down to get into scramble / web / nos range. You will need to therefore fit a MWD.
2) They have only 6 high slots and a 4/4 weapon split between turrets and missiles. Neither of these gets any kind of bonus to rate of fire, tracking, damage etc.
3) Due to 4 low slots your only real option is to shield tank on this thing. Now with 8 medium slots, that sounds great. However, since you are using a MWD you'll likely have to fit a cap injector. So now you're down to 6 medium slots. Then you need a shield booster, so you're down to 5. An EM and thermal hardners are pretty much a "must" if you're shield tanking solo. so now you're down to 3 or even 2 mid slots left.
4) You'll need to scramble your prey. Let's say a 20km/1pt disruptor. Now you're down to 1 mid slot.
5) Unless you know what race you'll be fighting (and it'll likely be gallente if it's pvp) a multispec is your best bet. A multispec that doesn't always work.
6) The drone bay is reasonable but pretty small. 5x tech 2 drones, 5x smalls is all you'll fit (or 3 large).
To be perfectly honest, the Scorpion is one of the worst solo pvp ships out there since you have to do "everything" and you can't really make use of it's intended role - ECMing in gangs.
Even with maxed out skills in every relavent area, I doubt you could take down a ratting raven :/
Your guns / missiles will have trouble hitting small targets if you want the firepower to hit large ships and if you want to hit small ships, you wont be able to defend yourself against larger targets.
Caldari rarely work very well if they're soloing in pvp.

I have - tackle/EW and fire power. When that EW is also your tank you don't really need the 3rd.
