So I payed the 10.00$ to swap out my portrait with a less hastily made one. 10 days later it still doesnt show up on forums or in-game...
Their response, it isnt a in-game issue I need to contact technical support and or billing department...

4. I just swapped the portraits of two of my character but I donĘt see the change in-game or on the forums.
As the portrait of your character is cached in various places, it can take up to 24 hours for all caches to be updated with your new portrait settings. Please note that you might also have to delete the "Portrait" folder in your cache directory to see the new portrait. The portrait folder is located in your game installation folder under "Cache/Pictures/Portraits
Perhaps you 'might' need to do this. Can you pay me for helping you?
Please Help me, YOU could be next!

Out of interest, did you delete your temp internet files and the poartraits files in the cache\Pictures\Portraits folder? Out with the old and in with the new. ------

It sound like any other players who had your old picture cached also see your old image versus the new one you PAID for.

I had paied 2 times for Swapping Portraits, and them never Swapped. And I sent 2 times a message to CCP and they ignored me. I'm sick of this, CCP is really not interested in my problems. I looked for my eve cache directory again and again and it doesn't exist.
The only folder I discovered is My documents\EVE\portraits\ and I cleared them. But it doesn't works. Can someone help me?

I didn't have any problems when I did my portrait swap last year except it took a few weeks to show up correctly everywhere.

Himitsu. try going to TOOLS>Folder Options in Windows XP
Goto the View tab. set it to view hidden files and folders
Then goto C:\documents and settings\YourlogingnameforWinxp\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\Cache
That should help, thats the actual cache

I have a similar problem.
I paid for the service over a month ago. My in-game portrait works fine, it changed correctly. However, my forum one is still the old portrait.
Any tips?

Himitsu Tai ingame
Look, it's quite simple.
In-game, the change is instant. But portraits are cached in your EVE cache folder. Just "capture" your own in-game character like I just did and you should see what I mean.
On the forums, the caching is even longer. Just think how many people spend a lot of time as "!"s, then multiply that by a random number. It can take a month for everything to properly update without any forced refreshes. _

Yeah! that is my new Portrait !
Ok, in 3 or 4 hours I will be with my PC and I will clear EVE cache. If I can't find cache, do you know if I uninstall the game and re-install it will clear the cache of EVE?

Not sure, but I have this nagging feeling the cache folder might remain I haven't tried, truth be told. Heck, I didn't even *INSTALL* EVE, I just copied over like I always do.
I listed the location of the folders on XP. Should be somewhat similar on Vista too. You'll manage.
Besides, there should be a "clear cache" option ingame. ESC -> reset settings -> middle tab ("reset to default") -> Clear all cache files. _

The characer portrait swap i paid for months ago worked fine in-game after deleting the cache, yet the CCP advertissement mails still display my old portrait. Quite counter-producing effect when it comes to tease a player into coming back...
Same problem with this forum, it displays the former portrait.

Edited by: NightmareX on 12/01/2008 23:29:50 I also have the wrong portrait on the forum here.
I payed 10 dollar to get the new portrait that is in my forum sig now, and it did change both ingame and on forum instantly. But after they upgraded the forum, it went back to an older portrait. I even got the old one i had before the one i have now lol.
So yeah, there is something wrong with the rendering machine atm.
FIX IT CCP.

The forum rendering machine never seems to work. It doesn't render new player portraits very quickly, so it's going to be even worse when rendering changed portraits I'd imagine. I still don't know why

Hi,
As with the ! problem, changing your character portrait is the same way. You could try clearing your cache and seeing if that fixes the issue, but it is more then likely the same issues that the web server that renders the avatars has not yet been updated since your portrait change. We are working to get the web server updated as soon as we can. Sorry for the trouble.
Best regards, GM Twinni EVE Online Customer Support
ABSSM Sent - 1/7/2008 10:21:00 PM my avatar is not an exclamation mark, it is of my old character,i wouldn't mind if it was an exclamation mark, and it has been more than a few weeks since i changed my avatar i would say its been a couple of months
GM Twinni Sent - 1/7/2008 6:13:00 PM Hi.
The forum avatars are rendered on a separate machine for the webserver. Sadly that machine does not do that exclusively so it can take several weeks for the avatar to be properly copied over. This will however be done eventually but until then your avatar will sadly remain the exclamation mark like it currently is.
If you require any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us again.
Best regards, GM Twinni EVE Online Customer Support Team
