Is there any way to make macros? I'd like to have hot keys telling my drones to Engage, Return, etc. I'd also like to have keys to send text to my gang, set my orbit. There are many other macros I'd like to make, so is there any way to do this?

I wouldn't say illegal, more like, against the rules. For something to be illegal means that it would be against some law somewhere, and this is not against any laws, it is just something that CCP will ban you for.

There are macros and then there are macros. Using a G15 keyboard to store canned chat messages is not going to be a problem (and is very necessary for many people with disablilities); however, creating macros that automate activities such as mining so that they can be carried out unattended are definitely against the rules.
From what I have seen so far, many of the activities (such as drone control) do not have keyboard controls and, thus, are not easy to macro even if you wanted too. This could be a problem for people with "Accessibility" issues, but does keep the playing field equal for others.

If you guys had actually read his post, you would know he didn't want to automate anything...he just wanted a keyboard shortcut for his drones. I don't know that it would be illegal if you figured out a way to make some sort of macro to do that (keep in mind, macro does not always refer to automating stuff and macro mining....it's a series of instructions that are done using just one keystroke).

In the case of the drones, it would definitely be illegal, because you can only order your drones about with the mouse. If the devs actually bothered to make keys for them, it would be fine. But they refuse or are unable to do so.
I used to get It.
Then It changed.
Now I don't even know what It is.

Those arent macros but hotkeys and yes it s lacking in Eve
