I'm not happy.
No, thread cant stay clear of the current dev scandal.
BoB pets seem pretty happy, I havent seen a pet say they are quitting yet. Then again.. no bob.. no pets. So if you're looking for positive thoughts i guess you should look in your own camp.

I have been in Eve off and on since late Beta on various accounts, typically held consecutively. I've experienced a LOT in Eve, been there for some events that have had either serious repercussions on the game or at least made history.
But in the end, what keeps me playing is the small but personally transcendental times. Seeing a small but eager corp of Eve rookie pilots take down their first player pirate. Helping another launch their first POS. Give a corporation something to rally around, such as building a capital ship a year before anyone can decently pilot it.
It has gotten harder and harder to maintain this as the game advances; helping a corporation get their officers of 2 or 3 months into a set of Apocs for mining is a LOT easier than scraping together the ISK needed for a POS or the minerals for a capital ship. What drives people are the dreams turned to goals, turned to reality. Dreams have advanced significantly since I first played the role of mentor in a smallish corporation, which also makes their attainment so much sweeter.
Obviously, I really do enjoy Eve in all of its military-industrial complex glory.
The one part I don't care for is actual participation in endgame content. Takes me too far from empire space most times, too far from those who I enjoy helping and sharing the dreams that Eve can inspire.

I'm happy overall, but I *do* have a major point of contention with EVE as it stands.
Its far FAR too easy to get money. And I don't mean getting several billion, because that still takes a bit of effort.
I simply wish we could go back to the days where a battleship inspired awe, and the cruiser was what most people could aspire to (well, ok, BC nowadays). It just seems BS are too common and easy to get, and there's no "epicness". Don't even get me started on the multiple Titans, dozens of Motherships and swarms of carriers that exist.
But since we've got more players -> more miners, more ratters etc, I don't see how this can be "fixed", if this is considered a problem anyway. Meh. Oh well.

I like EVE at the moment.
But I do not like CCP.
I used to play EverQuest, and while I enjoyed the game, my rapidly dislike for Sony made me quit.
Liking the game is not enough if I cant have any respect for the company running it. Sadly enough, since I still like the actual game still.

I'm pretty happy with eve. Been playing since the end of 2003 with some longish breaks.
Eve can be quite intense, and its easy to take it too seriously and get burnt out.
If you are getting upset about a game, just take a break.
The one thing I would ask ccp to do is to ban every account involved in what amounted to a denial of service attack on these forums the other day. The vast majority of players lost access due to the childishness of a few.
CCP need to be much quicker with bans. Not account bans, people bans. All accounts.

I am happy and love EVE.
There is corruption in RL so why not in EVE. It's all part of this wonderful world we live in.
A suggestion to CCP. Why not do a "Behind the scenes" video just to show people how much time, effort and resources go into making and sustaining something like EVE.
Just my 2 pennies worth.

EVE is fine for the moment, Till David Braben gets himself into gear and starts Frontier Elite Online going. EVE is ofcourse for many old school game players, just a substitute for Frontier after all.
So CCP keep up the good work for the moment, we still need you.

Eve is the most unique game in its genre I have ever played. I've been waiting for this type of game for years and I was dragged into it by complete accident. Even after playing it for so long I still get a rush from doing things, be they mining, combat or helping out some noobs in help/rookie channels.
Eve has taken alot away from me, money for one, but its given me alot as well. So its pretty much okay in my book.
I hope that the day won't come any time soon were they decide to turn off Eve. Hopefully I'll be long dead before that happens. Please Help me, YOU could be next!

EVE was and still remains the only MMO i've ever paid for, having spent nearly 3 years playing it and trying trials for other games i have to say nothing comes close to EVE and i'm loving it constantly.
Granted patches have come and go and changed things i didn't like but with EVE theres always a way to adapt and change and no problem can't be overcome with planning and a little thought :)
I have to say i'm happy with EVE and CCP at this time and i will continue to stand proud knowing i'm surrounded by other veteran EVE players and the up and coming new playerswho help to make EVE what it is you all feel like family to me :) ---------

Edited by: Saladin on 28/05/2007 15:55:15 I have mixed feelings about EvE & CCP atm, but on the whole I like the game. Aside from the amazing PvP system, I find the economy and market system fascinating and is a large reason why I am addicted to this game. Lets be honest, PvP oppurtunities have their ups and downs, boring build ups and quick releases. In many ways its like sex. However, I can always load up the market, look for oppurtunities and take some chances. Both categories really make up what I do in EvE.
Like the OP said, I think we should keep current events out of the thread. However, I will say that the problems being exposed now is a symptom of a larger problem. I have played for 4 years, but I would have to agree with people who say that the gaming community is evolving into cliques, and the 'Old Boys Club' are the ones that get the most attention from CCP. Still, I cannot deny that new players today have a lot more options to generate ISK than we did when the game went live (aside from that first week where ark and bistot were in empire belts).
I also have to agree with Wild Rho when he says that the problems have been there since day one - i.e. a select group of players always getting away with the weirdest crap. ----

Edited by: Galk on 28/05/2007 17:24:05 Can't realy say as i have an interest in it now.
Basicaly your all as bad as each other reguarding everything recent, not something i realy want to be assoicated with to be honest.
eve might (well did) have held a candle to my eye once when it was in it's infancy and there was a general innocence about the game, but now looking at all sides of it and how things have evolved and moved on with the developer alone without even mentioning the players who have done just as much to screw up the game...
strings smoke screens and broken promises reguarding latency issues.... a mash of a meta game actively encouraged by the development team, the emphasis of which seemingly indicating greed over substance on their part that largely replaces enjoyment of the individual player existance in the virtual world (which is a shame and a total travesty), and the absolute worst of all... totaly hypocritical public statements from ccp, which are frankly unreal and embarrassing to look at if you are aware of the true accounts behind whats being told.... both in media interviews and when addressing the playerbase.
The mind boggles it realy does, a lot of people looking in on eve hold the opinion of why the hell do people play it.
ofc if you have played eve, you allways seem to have hope, because you pretty much know eve could be the one.
But i have to say iv'e just about lost total sight of that myself because of what iv'e mentioned above..... ccp arn't going to change, the people involved in everything recent are allways still going to be around doing what they do impressing on the game..
I don't want anything to do with any of it, it's not realy 'fun' in my eyes.

I'm glad i read through this thread far enough to find that. I'm relatively new to this game (2 months) and brand new to MMORPG's. I love this game. There are a million different ways to play and something to do for everyone. I hope to continue playing this game in the years to come and i'm happy to see that there are players who've benn playing for a long time that still enjoy it.

18 Months ago I was under the state of mind that I would never pay to play an online game. Then some one who worked for me sent me a 14 day trial for EvE and I haven't stopped playing since!!
EvE is so diverse. There are so many things that I still havent done within the universe even though I have 2 seperate chars following 2 seperate paths.
The thing I like most about the game is the way that CCP are always looking to introduce new aspects to the game so you dont get bored doing one thing. Sure there are problems but they are being looked at and in my opinion they dont affect my game play in a serious way so need to worry!

After roughly 15 months without a sub, i restarted my eve account in february and ive got to say, things have really changed for the better, especially with PvP combat. Invention is brilliant. When i came back, there were interdictors, probably the single greatest pvp tool in game in my view. The increase in ship hp and the introduction of recons/CS has made smaller scale pvp much more interesting.
If im honest though, there are still a lot of things id like to see changed. I hate Jita and i hate the way everything is so clumped up. I wish CCP would introduce some sort of localisation to the markets. I dont know, i think it would be a much more interesting game for industrial characters if for instance, it was cheaper/faster to produce minmatar ships in minmatar space etc. Also, i personally dont like the effect DD's have. If you arent in a capital ship be prepared to be useless. Also, sorting out the bounty system has long been on the agenda.
