Ah... and now you have learned the secret of Eve Paduwan. For those pilots who do not wish to PvP or become a meat-shield puppet for the BORG.... THERE IS NO REASON TO GO TO ZERO.
Only the BORG and their "pets" exist out there and all others are just food in time.

Having jumped in headfirst into it, I'm actually liking it.
Its not difficult to make ISK out there. There are systems you can crawl into and simply pewpew till your eyes bleed. Its just a matter of saying to yourself that not EVERY call for help on the intel channel has to be answered personally every time.
Learn who your enemies are, learn who your friends are, watch local, and stay off the main drags.

I started thinking of any reason why should a miner even bother. For that matter a hauler, Mission Runner, Industrialist.
I can't see any reward that would be worth the risk. SO what are the rewards for being in low-sec or 0.0
That are NOT combat related
The only reason that 'the buzz' is now about finding ways to convince/coerce people into lowsec/nosec is because BoB is running out of people to shoot. Now that their odiousness has been exposed once again, nobody wants to waste their time in a futile effort against a rigged game. BoB doesn't want fair fights, but no fights is even worse. So, right on cue, now the drumbeat of "more people to lowsec/nosec!" is starting. Expect to see more changes as Revisions 2.0 (oops...did I misspell that?) comes closer to launch. Watch for clever little "fixes" coming down the line to make it harder on the carebear, like even lower bounties for NPC rats, or no agents better than Q -10 in highsec, or even a severe reduction of veld and scordite in highsec. They'll find a way to draft you into the BoB meatgrinder, one way or another. It's just a matter of time.

low sec is great, it's more mission money without the risk of bubble camps, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, plus you can go ratting when the system is empty and make even more
sounds like you're too afraid to even try it

Don't lie to people, money/hour is better in high-sec mission running then low sec. You get better agents (as gallente, at least), and ratting isn't as close as profitable as running the L3/L4 train. Only appeal of low sec as it stands now is, for a solo player now, freedom. And a challenge. But definitely not money-making ability. I do live in low sec, did mission running in high sec, don't scam me where more money lies in ;P

Well if you wanna make ISK and generally "carebear" around the place then i agree 0.0 has nothing to offer that you wouldn't also find in empire and most likley you will also make more ISK and have a much smaller "risk" involved to reach your goals.
There is however, an entire part of the game that you are missing if you only carebear - all the action and most of the "real" player interaction plays in 0.0 - you can claim space, kill each other, fly in fleets etc. in other words all those "combat advantages" you were talking about (and didn't wanna hear )
The only other advantages to 0.0 besides PvP would be the quality of the ore in belts. In 0.0 you can mine pretty much anything and in empire only crappy low-mins. The problem is, that you probably will make more ISK if you simply grind lvl4 missions in empire an then buy the minerals in jita. so basicly i agree with you that there is zero reason to go to 0.0 if you don't wanna be part of an alliance and don't wanna PvP (even thou PvP in lowsec is of course always an option).
The main problem is, that hunting in 0.0 to make ISK simply sucks - the rats don't give good enough bounty to justify the risks and complexes (where you could actually make huge amounts of ISK) are usually not accessible to most players because they are either reserved for other alliances or totally overfarmed so if you have an RL and a job you most likley won't get in any complex (8/10 or higher). So for ISK stay in empire but for fun come to 0.0 - thats exactly how i do it (even though you don't really need huge amounts of ISK depending on the alliance you are in and what kinda system they use).
But as i said - i have to agree with you that there should be more of an advantage if you decide to live in 0.0 |
