My strategy is onefold: Stop. I stop mining, I stop hauling minerals around, or doing anything industrial. I run missions instead.
If all the miners did that for the course of hulkageddon, it'd soon stop once the prices on ships and guns started rising. Especially with the lack of insurance if concorded. |

It depends on what you consider wrong. Intentionally corrupting a mutual symbiotic relationship is generally considered wrong.

It's just a player sponsored event. No one is forced to log in during it.
And lets face it . Most gankers are gankers because that's about all their tiny little scrap of neuroganglia can handle in the way of PVP. In other words, they are just plain stupid. And as such, the savvy miner can have a lot of fun making them cry.
Hulkagedden is an opportunity for miners, in my opinion. Not an issue.

You think like a vet. It's no water off my back, and the only reason half the people who wind up responding to this thread will do so because they think it is.
However, it is one of the things that causes low new subscriber rates. The average person does not want to deal with that ****. And people in EvE literally think that by discouraging the average MMO player out of the sandbox, it makes them above average.
EvE is thick with Darwinism, but not in the manner that many believe.

Wrong? lol...
Thanks for the laugh bro, nothing is more funny than listening to people trying to inject their self defined morality into EVE.
YOU may consider it wrong, but to be honest, 'right' and 'wrong' are totally irrelevant to this game, and do not exist in the terms of service, EULA or any other part of EVE.
But anyways, thanks heaps for trying to tell other people how you think they should play their game. It gave some good chuckles. |

You chuckle because you assumed incorrectly. I did not tell anyone how to play anything. I made a suggestion regarding causality to the players that would like a different outcome to this years event. It was stated as such and your misinterpretation is what is laughable. Secondly, the only part of your post that was correct was that morality is irrelevant and not part of the EULA. Behavior that is self destructive to EvE online should be avoided by all who wish to play for a prolonged period of time, no matter how limited their vocabulary or wit is.

Yes, Cipher, I do.
And as a vet, I'll say that the ships being targeted are, for the most part, ships that take some time to train for. Long enough that the pilot of the ship should have some idea what they're doing.
Noobs mining in Velators are not going to get ganked. So new players are not going to be driven out of the game. They will likely be watching in fascination at what the big boys are up to with this whole blowing up mining barge/ Exhumers thing and having fantasies of being on one side or the other when thy become vets themselves.
Notice I said new players. Not new characters that belong to older players. New players will be on the sidelines watching and and marveling at the chaos. It's the new throw away alts will be ganking.

I would be more inclined to believe that low rates of new subscribers are due to the facts that this is an eight year old game that does not advertise heavily and does not fit into the standard MMO niche per se. New players generally get plenty of warning about hulkageddon or other ganking events from vets starting up new alt accounts.
Also, considering the game design, discouraging the "average" MMO player is pretty much built into the game. |

Actually, your encouragement for people to quit playing is the only factor I see that might be construed as harmful to the game.
Now if you were to push for even more tools to deal with hulkageddon, I could understand that. Urging people to quit playing is just sad, and more than a bit irritating to the average player. In fact, I could easily see your little movement encouraging even more people to pick up the habit, if for no other reason than to show you that being a pompous ass has consequences.
Hulkageddon isn't m style, but urging people to quit over it is more than a little bit lame. Revenge should not stop at the ship!

And because it didn't work once. And we got ship spinning out of it. And people are happy about that.

You can call it whatever you like, it's still urging people to quit... even if it's only short term.
Yes, the player base successfully held CCP hostage to get something they thought they wanted. Ship spinning is arguably the most intellectually challenged aspect of EVE.
Congratulations.
How long do you think that trump card will work if you start playing it for nonsensical issues?
If you are successful, how long do you think it will be before you have succeeded in removing every aspect of the game that makes it unique and enjoyable?
I am assuming you will be leading the charge on this one, so once Hulkageddon starts we had better not see any posts from you. Otherwise you'll simply be proving that you are little more than a self entitled rabble rouser who is attempting to get what they want at other peoples expense.
Why do I have a feeling you won't actually be quitting yourself...
