It is an AG-3, the Norwegian Armed Forces version of the Heckler & Koch G3.
Norwegian Sergeants have undying love for the activity known as AG-Gym, where the soldiers must hold the 4,7kg heavy weapon on straight arms, moving it up and down only by bending the wrists. After 30 seconds you feel the strain, after 60 seconds it hurts like he**....
The weapon itself is very accurate, but does pack a rather nasty recoil. This, for me, led to a rather amusing incident during basic training. As anyone having served in a county using conscription knows, there is ALWAYS at least one poor sod in the platoon that should never have been let anywhere near a weapon.
Our version of this guys feared the recoil enough to have the bright idea of holding the weapon with about 2 inches clearance from his shoulder when shooting lying down. Needless to say, the recoil kicked the rifle smack into his collar-bone, broke it, and sendt him packing for home ---

You just brought back some fond memmories from my childhood. I didn't break any bones though, I just couldn't breath for a couple seconds. I was using a shotgun loaded with 3 1/2 inch Magnum shells. "look at target, pull trigger, look at sky, feel pain"
I'm better at handling guns now though.

3 1/2" Extra heavy turkey mags in a 12ga. Hardest kicking thing I've ever fired. BUT I LOVED IT.
but my vote is on the .308 honestly. Its lighter than a 50cal, harder hitting than a 5.56, and more accurate than the .30-06.
Semper Fi. Been there done that. While I can hit a target at 500m with steel sites on an M-16, I'd prefer to have an AR-10 to pop people with.
and yeah... who doesn't like grenades, or claymores for that matter.

why? In case your home is being invaded by a guy half a mile away?
I get plenty of enjoyment out of my old WW2-era Remington M1911 for personal defense and S&W Model 500 for whenever I happen to be attacked by Ogres or Dragons

Just for the fun of target shooting with a massively overpowered rifle. I've wanted one since i saw them in Robocop, they just look like great fun.

Bigger the gun, the bigger the fun. I'd love to have one too, but they cost like $8,000. Better things to buy for that much. I could get more than 30 Yugoslavian made Mausers for that, or like 8 Bushmasters.

Awww went on a trip and came back to this thread on teh 2nd page! Can't have that...
This is definetely up there with the biggest piece of badassery I've ever shot; Saiga 12K Full-Auto The one I shot was a chopped full size Saiga with a "K" style AK74 folding stock (usually on 74SUs). Owner was a SOT (means his business is licensed to make machineguns, silencers, etc). The version I shot was about the same size, but I don't remember the cyclic rate being that insane.
I really kicked myself for not having 40 bucks for some ammo for the full auto P90 the same guy brought out that day. :(
