HI!
I'm a noob, only been playing for a month <grins>.
Let me just speak a little of the things I've been hearing since I joined eve. Keep in mind that I don't know anything about 0.0 space. Never been there, never seen a GM, never seen a BoB member, never seen a GS member. In fact, all the 0.0 pilots I've ever met have called me an idiot and a loser because I fly gallente ships and have never been to 0.0 space before.
I've lost a BC and C to low sec pirates though, not 0.0 :-).
I used to play NWN hours on end, and as everyone I had a favourite server. GMs were biased there. I learned a long time ago that things like this will happen in every MMO where there is direct interaction between the staff and the playerbase. Dev's should be allowed to play the game, but under no circumstances should anyone be able to learn who they are and which corp they reside, inclduing the devs themselves. The simple fact that several devs have account in the same alliance, smacks of unfair advantages to me.
I for one find it decidedly strange that any GM would have a visible access to a corp. In NWN DMs could move totally invisibly, and fix just about anything. Why would you program your own software with something that is so obviously flawed? why do GMs even have ships, their own system etc?
The ONLY time they should have these things is when using them in events. Other than that they should be an invisible hand without clipping. so too reporters -> just a camera for recording, not a whole ship capable of bumping.
I think the actions made by GS are sad, as well as the ones made by CCP. A company of your stature and age should know better than to make such a petulant reply to your public.
in fact, the reply put me in mind of someone answering soelely to GS and BoB: did you have no inkling that the entire community would be watching this? not to mention what some other smart EvEer posted: "first MMO to sue it's playerbase". That could get you SO much negative press, professionally and publcily.
These things, however, don't seem to come into your decision making process. Sadly then, the 21 page threadnaught that is forming right now, will go unread, unheard and unheeded in any form by CCP. Which is a waste. it could have been your best moment.
Cornu.
p.s. try asking in the help channel what happens in 0.0 space :-)
