Edited by: Grayton on 30/05/2007 03:18:52 You know what I find hilarious about this whole situation?
On Friday, when Mittani was getting the open letter together, I remember him saying quite clearly that he was going to make one clear, concise post to Eve-O General Discussion about it, as nicely as possible. And if it got promptly deleted, then we'd threadnaught. And what happened? Within minutes of a clear, concise post being made, it got nuked. No chance for discussion. No chance for response. Just the usual instant moderation and blind censorship this forum is known for. So what did we do? Yes, threadnaught. So I find it hilarious that it is being made out like we immediately attempted to bring down the entire eve-online.com site. We tried to be nice; to be civil. We tried to bring a topic to the entire Eve playerbase to discuss. But, like always, this is not anywhere near an open discussion board- if the post isn't liked, it gets nuked on the spot.
And what of the MSN contacts and all that wonderful stuff, hmmm? Back after the previous fanfest, a GM registered on our forums because he liked our community. Within a few days he was told, by CCP, that he would have to immediately delete his GS forums account as he should not be directly interacting with the player base like that. Yet at the same time, as has already been stated by the chief diplomat of BoB, members of this game have had the means to directly interact with the GMs and, more importantly, Devs. Now, I'm sorry, but this seems like just a wee, tiny bit of a double standard. Or is it trying to promote that talking directly to Devs/GMs out of game in non-game related matters is a-ok as long as you do it in secret?
I won't even go into the even further hilarious implied threats of legal action against a playerbase in your own game. I just hope you eventually realize that there are deep problems with the way you run this game that extend beyond balance issues, or server issues, or bug issues, and that hopefully you'll see the light and actually make an effort to fix them instead of just digging into the hole more and more.
