Even if I get ganked its still fun. I just make sure I am insured and can afford to lose what I'm flying.

The primary purpose of EVE PvP is to get a heart attack or a headache. I forget which one is for forum posting and which one is for PvP...

I'd just like to add on to this, I am a noob, 3 weeks gameplay in total. And only a couple of nights ago had my first PvP experience, when off to collect a purchase in low sec.
All went well until I left the station with the goods, and before I could react I was bumped by two battleships, both were flickering red on my side bar, they then targeted me jammed my warp core and began to rain missiles on my ship.
Man it was exciting, I targeted back and prepared to activate my webber and close to blaster range, when I saw that my armour was being shredded, despite my passives and dc. I had to do what any decent person would, I ran away and docked back in the station :P
Even that was thrilling, I had no idea if I would get away, or if they would sit outside the station waiting for me.
When I docked I had about 2% of my armour hp left.
All I know is that my decision an hour earlier to buy and fit a 1600mm plate to my Thorax saved the day, and I loved it.
So what is the point of PVP? I think it speaks for itself, but I'll tell you anyhow.
I was no match for those guys and I still managed to get away and keep my stuff for another day. It may be sad but I felt excited and pleased with myself that I had managed that.
And the next hour as my new corp mates came from far afield to scout the system, bring warp stabilizers to help me get out and bring battleships of our own to the field was tense and exciting stuff.
It is exactly this sort of thing that I hoped for when I began to play, uncertainty, doubt, adrenaline, excitement and having to make live or die split second decisions.
