Edited by: Jessamine on 30/05/2007 16:31:53 I got bored at work so I decided to make a nice little guide to help people 'pr0stitute' up caldari factional standing.
--- Basic Backstory Now I'm sure you all know that the only way to increase factional standing is with storylines. Storylines are offered every 16 missions that you complete of 1 level (aka 1,2,3 or 4) per faction. It does not have to be the same agent, the same corporation, the same division or the same type (aka Courier, Trade or Encounter[Kill])
With that in mind, you want to be able to get storylines as fast as possible, which pretty much annuls Kill missions as a recourse (In a high skill CNR some kill missions can take an hour, such as Extravaganzas and The Assault, while you can get fast, ~15 minutes, missions they don't equal out. Check my standings, I've done enough to know).
So what should you do? Couriers. It's boring, but it's fast and it can be done afk. Of course, the more you pay attention (WTZ instead of autopiloting) the faster you'll get them done and the faster you'll get your storylines. With that in mind, you should know that it's best to get a whole bunch of couriers at once, so you can deliver them together. With a good starting system/system group you can often load up 3-9 missions at a time, and I'm here to show you the best system, in the game I believe, for doing that with the Caldari.
Now, before you start it's best to have a caldari factional standing around 5 or so, but if you don't this will still work. The reason the high factional standing is nice to begin as it lets you use a large amount of agents even if you have never run a mission for their corporation in your characters life. For example, right now I can run any level agent for any Caldari Corporation even if I have never spoken to that corporation before, simply because I have this high overarching standing.
How to get started Fitting your ship for speed and versatility
- Get an industrial. I would recommend the Iteron Mk V, second best, skill-wise, would be the Bestower.
- Buy Expanders, T2s are cheap now. Get enough to fill your lows
- Buy Cargohold Optimization Rigs. They are expensive so do this when you can.
- Buy the best Overdrive Injector Systems and Inertia Stabilizers. In an Itty V I
recommend 2 Overdrives and 3 Inertia Stabilizers. 1 Less OD than iStab seems to yield best results.
- Buy a 10mn AB II, or best named. A 10mn MWD won't fit on an Itty V even with max skills,
and you don't want to sac a low for a MAPC to fit it.
Getting your mission on
- You now have a 'Speed Kit' and a 'Courier Kit'
- Fit your 'Speed Kit' on and fly to the Airkio system

why would you need overdrives and expanders? both use lows, so how do you prioritize between the two? in addition how is speed useful at all, if u're just WTZ all the time? docking at stations? i dont know...

It's useful for afk flight. Also the iStabs increase your acceleration to push you into warp faster. In regards to prioritization, you juggle them to be able to fit your cargo in without overloading on expanders. For example, my rigged Itty V with 2 ODs on can haul~9k m3, so if I need to haul 12k or so I'd take off an OD and add an Expander, once you've done it enough you have an eye for what comes off and what goes on to fit cargo.
The fiting screen is our friend :)

A thing to consider - that technique boost your Cali State standings while you might be after boosting a particular corp standings at the same time (eg 0% tax on refining etc). Find a storyline agent with this corp and make sure that the last in series (#16) is done for any agent (same level) in the same system or as close to it as possible. It is irrelevant where you've been whoring the previous 15 missions - it is the last one that triggers your storyline agent into action. 4-5 storylines for the same corp and your base standings would be ~6.5

This is a very good point. Problematically some corps dont have storyline agents (from what I've found I could never locate one for Top Down) and it's hard ot find them (Althrough maybe Chribba could add that to eve-ageents )

A few comments. Storyline offers last for a long, long time. So one approach is to not accept/do storylines until all the not-so-good agents fill up and you start receiving offers only from the company you wish to work for.
Also, I've done L4 courier grinding and L2 mish grinding, and I'm convinced L2s offer a better return on corp (but not necessarily empire) faction per time spent, although the ISK rewards for the storylines are significantly lower.
With a FoF and tech2 light drone fitted Drake you can clear out most L1 and L2 missions in a minute or two. A 3 heatsink + 6 beam laser myrm with tech2 medium drones is almost as fast. Needless to say, loot & salvage is out of the question. Far less time than flying 8 jumps round trip in an indy. And the standings increases are higher.
With a bit of luck on travel time I can hit 2 L2 storylines an hour.
p.s. COSMOS missions offer excellent faction standing increases, so storylines aren't the only way to go.

Good points all around just a couple quick replies. Most L4 Hauler missions I have tend to be 3 jumps or less. This is based on my experience in the systems I've listed. Also, some kills can require you to jump 2-3 systems out, easy.
I was mainly focussing this on L4 storylines, and suggesting doing couriers for the lower levels while you were at it, but to each their own. My low standings were garnered from kill missions for Lai Dai, so the lower level grinding is mostly speculative.
Also doing 2 L2 storylines an hour will put you into L3 agents before you know it, almost not worth kitting out to do them since you'll be hauling L3s by the end of the day.
The guide was written for faction standings moreso than corp (corp just being a vehicle to get to some agents faster so you can keep grinding Empire Faction standing) as it will alow anchorings and (my goal) the Faction ship offers from the Cosmos agents.
Cosmos agents give great faction but you have to kill (I do a lot of AFK piloting while doing other things, like writing this post! ) and you have to contend with farmers and ship restrictions and all that fun.
With this guide a newb should be able to jump in their ship and start 'pr0stituting' faction standing pretty much from birth.

eh, why not. Amarr courier bump & grind:
Lvl 4 system Amdonen and area (Nishah, Nakregde & Ferira), next to lowsec (Ami) so some get declined, but there are a bunch of good quality lvl 4 couriers for Imperial Shipment, a storyline agent in Amdonen and they're all locator agents.
Lvls 1-3 system Asrios Carthum agents faction goldmine: If you don't mind the high sec of the systems (all are 0.8 in the area) there are several high quality (+16 & +20) lvl 4 combat agents in the area, a nice lvl 3 Kaalakiota combat agent, and storyline agents for Carthum & Kaalakiota. Running couriers from Asrios it's a 5 jump straight line route every time due to the jump layouts down there. It's the most predictable and quickest courier route I've found.
Not for the beginners but I'd recommend using a blockade runner with warp speed rigs. It can travel nearly 3 times faster than a T1 hauler (warps @ 12.8 AU/s vs 4.5 AU/s, with a much faster align), and makes a huge difference when doing the fedex thing.

I should add that the storyline agents are nextdoor in Shemah, and that you should only take couriers from the agents in Asrios to preserve the short route. There are other courier agents along the route, but they can send you all over the place and eat a lot of time. I should also mention that most of the systems in the route only have 1 or 2 stations, (except Asrios has a bunch so you'll get a lot of in-system missions) so that makes it even quicker.

This is from derived modifications. If you look at the info for each faction and check their standings the derived mods are capped at the standing they have for the other faction. Your journal transactions will still show derived mod increases but once you hit the cap they don't raise any higher than that without working directly for the faction or for somebody that has a higher derived mod cap.

The blockade runner warp speed hint is pure gold. I never thought about that before! One more reason to train indy to level V after all.

It's not how taken from how much Caldari likes those factions, but how much those factions like the Caldari. So it's taken from "Liked By", not the "Likes" tab.

Hmmm... And I thought my Crane with 9 AU/s was fast - can u advice on the skills (I can't find any) that would increase in-warp velocity? From the info available I can't see any difference in that for different races blockade runners.

After a bit of experimentation I've selected Aldilur as the faction grinding Mecca of Minmatar & Gallente.
The stations there belong to Minmatar Mining. There are a total of 5 level 4 agents, two quality 19. Several L3 and L2s as well. It is a .9 sec rating dead end system, and while rewards are low the storyline counter ticks up quite nicely.
I can see my bookmarks folder swelling with station insta-undocks as I try to hit the storyline/hr or better with this approach. =)

Edited by: Darth Mouse on 04/06/2007 06:57:23 Odd question, does the 16 mission quota transfer between agent levels ?
I was wondering if you could power, 15 level 1 kill missions (generally fast and easy), then do the 16th mission on a level 4. Would this help you get teh harder storyline missions ?
I'm still assuming the missions you take affect the story line you recieve.... otherwise its easy to just go power grind level 1 kill missions and get lots of story lines :)

When flying through systems en route to a dropoff/pickup I just right click in space and see if I have boomkarked a station. (I bookmark stations with l4 courier agents I can use) If there's one I pop in, add the mission waypoint, optimize waypoints, accept, load up and ship out.

As I said in the OP (the very first paragraph):
"Storylines are offered every 16 missions that you complete of 1 level (aka 1,2,3 or 4) per faction. It does not have to be the same agent, the same corporation, thesame division or the same type (aka Courier, Trade or Encounter[Kill])"
So:
You do 15 L1s for Amarr then 1 L4 for Amarr, you get: NOTHING You do 16 L1s for Amarr, you get: A Level 1 Storyline from Amarr You do 15 L4s for Amarr and 1 L4 for Caldari, you get: NOTHING You do 16 L4s for Amarr, you get: A Level 4 Storyline from Amarr
You do NOT have to do them in order. Feel free to do some L4s for Amarr then some for Caldari and come back to Amarr. You will only be offered the storyline when you have accrued 16 missions of the same level for the same faction.
I mean c'mon, as a courtesy to me, read the post...

I retract my recommendation for Aldilur as the minmatar courier hub of choice.
While there are 5 agents in that dead end system turns out Astrogeology hands out about 75% kill missions over the long haul. While Cargo Delivery 'kill' mission is a good one to do in a shuttle, the Worlds Collides and Extravaganzas and Right Hand of Some Dumbass and their ilk clog up your mission list sooner rather than later.
Still looking for a viable Minmatar courier hub. Suggestions would be very very very welcome.

Unless something has changed in the last few months, SoE does give out storylines. I'm not sure why anybody but Interbus wouldn't either, since they're the only mission-eligible faction with positive standings to all of Empire. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Wait.... I am about to begin the process of repping my Gallente and Min standings by running missions for Sisters of EVE - and I wanted to find a mission hub with sisters agents that send me to sisters storyline agents. There are several of them.
Are you telling me that Sisters have no storyline missions, even though they have storyline agents? I need to know this before I move all my crap to the new system I chose for this purpose... thanks.
EDIT: ok, in the time it took me to get a drink and post this, someone posted ahead of me and answered my question for me. Yes, sisters DO have storyline agents. Good. Thanks.
I have a thread on this topic found here.
Tsanse Kinske replied to my post with some excellent suggestions on how to find agents. I will repost her suggestions here, with full credit going to Tsanse for the great tutorial.
I agree that Eve-Agents.com is a great site, but there are some limitations to it. You might want to try out Grismar's agent locator. It is a little less intuitive but much more powerful.
Here is what I did to find sisters storyline agents: (modified from Tsanse's post)
- Select "show agents" in the first drop down box, at the top of the screen, below the "Main | Help | FAQ | Login" links.
- Select "...in region with name containing..." and the region you want to search in.
- Select "offering function" and type in "storyline missions" (without the quotes)
That's it. This will show you all storyline mission agents in that region.
If you want to narrow the search, then add another parameter to your query. You can search for a specific corporation or faction by:
- Select "belonging to a corp with name containing" and the name of the corp (sisters) that you want to work for, or
- Select "belonging to faction with name containing" and the name of the faction you want to work for.
You can also limit by level of agent, quality of agent... and so on. Really a great tool. For quick searches, I use Eve-agents.com. For advanced searches like this, Grismar's will probably be better to use.

One minor observation - aren't all storyline agents "Level 1" agents? There are no such things as "Level 4 storyline agents," are there?
I thought you would get the same agent if you were running level 1, 2, 3 or 4 missions...?

You will get the closest storyline agent of that proper faction based on where you did the 16th mission. To my knowledge all storyline agents are listed as level 1 but thats misleading. The storyline agent (level 1) will properly give you the correct level storyline mission (1, 2, 3, 4, 5?) based on your previous grinding.

Still looking for a viable Minmatar courier hub. Suggestions would be very very very welcome.
I would like to raise my Minmatar Republic faction asap, anyone suggest a good courier mission hub for Minmatar? Currently running level 4 kill missions in Gelfiven and it will take forever to make 6.0 faction standing at this rate.

There looks to be a semi viable hub in Antiainen in the Lonetrek region working for Core Complexions. You have to bounce through low sec to get there, but there is a story agent, and 5-10 courier agents. I've onyl really scouted out Lonetrek since its close to my corp HQ. I am sure there is some good spots in Heimatar.

This is probably the best spot anywhere if you want Carthum Conglomerate standings (for R&D). A cheaper option is to use an Exequror with agility rigs.

just my two cents:
I run alot of sisters of eve missions out of osmon. Every 16-18 missions I do a storyline eve-mail from a zainou biotech agent two jumps over... not sure if this is a bug or if its how the good sisters are supposed to act, but thats what seems to be throwing my SOE standing through the roof.
Just some information for the community to digest.

Try Everyshore for Gallente couriers., I based out of Marosier,0.6, which has a Creodron lvl 4 Q18 manufacturing agent and Quafe lvl 4 manufacturing Q1 agent, doing the above mention system of accepting missions along the route will give over 8 lvl 4 courier agents in a 3 or 4 jump range.
My Creodron standings are 9.78 as a result of a couple of months spent there.
Unfortunately the storyline agent is a Garound bank agent in Aclan, which is as obscure as they get. I have a 10 standing to them as a consequence :(

If you get -5 standing with someone, minmatar in this example as mentioned you will if you get really high caldari standing, does that mean minmatar NPCs/sentry guns will shoot you down in minmatar npc empire space ? Or is it only your characters security rating that matters in terms of standings with NPCs ?

whats the (ballpark) amount of isk+LP/hour you rake in doing courriers in this fashion?
I'm not in it for the standings, i might even decline the storylines to prevent gallente hate, but i'm wondering about the income(money/LP) on this style of mission farming.

Since a lot of people are asking about minmatar courier hubs and I'm badly procrastinating at work I thought I'd have a look. It definately seems that minmatar get shafted on this front, I've not really found anything that fit all the criteria at once (ie many courier agents, dead-end or corner system, deep in high sec). Only counting agents which offer courier missions at least 90% of the time here's the best two systems I've found so far:
Gulfonodi - Molden Heath
Agents 2x Lvl 1 4x Lvl 2 1x Lvl 3 1x Lvl 4
Number of gates : 2 Nearest low sec system : 2 jumps Nearest storyline agent : 0 jumps (Astro)
Eram - Metropolis
Agents 1x Lvl 2 3x Lvl 3 1x Lvl 4
Number of gates : 4 Nearest low sec system : 3 jumps Nearest storyline agent : 1 jumps (Marketing)
The biggest problem with these really seems to be their proximity to low sec systems so its going to be hard to do many of these ones afk. Any other large grouping of courier agents I've found have actualy been located inside low sec space. I have a feeling that rather than looking for single systems with large amounts of courier agents you might find better locations by looking for systems which contain fewer agents but are very close together and so can be considered a joint hub. I havn't gotten around to looking out for these yet (its much harder to try and collate the data), but if anyone has any luck I'd like to hear it.

Which divisions give mostly courier missions? I tried to grind out some quick courier missions (for Gallente) but I still seem to get 50% kill missions. I was using Marketing agents from Chemal Tech, and Marketing was supposed to be 95% courier from the info I'd seen online. Is it possible the mission mix of various divisions changed since those pages were written? Thanks.

This person voiced something that's concerned me with this particular method as well. For me, my question is, what happens when those agents all give you kill missions? I've tried to stick with courier agents before and 5% kill missions seems a bit wrong to me. After about 10 kill missions in a row I decided to stop. So, what's the guarantee that they're going to give you courier missions, and how much does it throw you off when you get 3 or 4 in a row? I know you're not completing those kill missions in that indy.....are you??

Marketing is 50/50 kill/courier. The best courier agents are from archives, distribution, manufacturing, production, and storage. Check it our for yourself here

Some standings increase examples with Social 4:
- Highsec level 4 kill storyline: 0.83 gain
- Highsec level 4 trade storyline: 0.07 gain
- Highsec agent, Lowsec level 2 kill storyline: 0.32 gain
- Highsec agent, Lowsec level 2 courier storyline: 0.17
Definitely try to get kill missions for your storylines, so do that last courier mission close to a Security or Command storyline agent.

Is there a limit to the "stacking up" of storylines?(except the obvious time-limit) = can one ever lose a storyline-offer due to having to many unfinished ones?

Maybe this was answered in some other thread already (if so link please)
Im trying to get standing to Minmatar corp with R&D agents high enough to use those agents. I do not have any standings to that corp yet. Will doing courier missions (and storyline) for another corp in Minmatar Republic faction (and thus increasing this faction standings) help me in anyway with standings to corp that I want to do R&D agents for (Core Complexion or Boundless Creation).
Scenario im hoping is possible: 1 - I start with 0 standings to Boundless Creation, can only do lvl 1 agents. 2 - I do lots of courier/storyline for some other Minnie corp. 3 - I can do lvl 2 or 3 agents with Boundless Creation now beacuse my faction standings are increased.
Is this possible ? |

if I read your question correctly, if you pick a high quality lvl 1 agent in a 0.5 preferably, then grind up till you can access a lvl 2 also in a 0.5, your corp standings will rise quite quickly but also your faction wont be far behind due to the resulting storylines,
Once faction hits 4.65 or there abouts you can access low Quality lvl 4 agents for any corp under that faction. But note that you require Corp standing as well as faction to access R&D agents.
If you want to grind Boundless up to 5 for the best Lvl 4 Mech Eng agent you can use the lvl 2 combat agent in Hek, I could find no better alternatives in hi sec
For Core complexion there is a good courier agent "Olsagard Enguflod" a lvl 4 Q0 Manufacturing agent in "Eram" 0.8 with a Core storyline agent close by
here is a link to a current thread with a bit more info.

Edited by: Reol Renor on 24/10/2007 19:55:05 Hi this is mostly for the OP but if anyone could give me some tips i'd be glad. I have some trouble with the optimization of the waypoints. It's all fine until I have over 10 waypoints then the game gives me a message saying that it might take some time to calculate the optimal route. It takes a few seconds but i can live with it. But if i have over 12 waypoints the game tells me "This will take a lot of time!" and it does i have tried once and the game chrashed. This makes it very difficult to do both lvl 2 and lvl 3 at the same time as it doesn't take mych time before you have over 12 missions and waypoints. My solution right now is that I'm only doing the lvl3 missions but it feels like I'm missing out a bit and that it would be more effective to run both lvl2 and lvl3 at the same time. Does anyone have a better solution?
EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. What are these faction ships you talk about? Where do you get these and is it only the standing rec or is there some other cost? Or have i just been owned ?

That is a classic example of a Postmans Walk problem... what path does the postman take to deliver with the least distance traveled. The problem is that each extra node (waypoint in this case) increases the number of additional computations that need to be done by a multiple of the total number of waypoints already there.
When you get above 10 or so it has to do so many calculations that it ties up the CPU and the game crashes/hangs.
Basically don't optimise at those levels and make do with a partially optimised route.
And thanks to the OP, this is a very helpful thread! ** ** ** ** ** **

Edited by: Jessamine on 03/12/2007 05:15:01 I've recently reactivated so I'll be looking at optimizing this for other factions as well. So far Caldari is ridiculously easier than any other, though Gallente looks like it could have some good ones in the Everyshore region and the surroundings.
As always check eve-agents.com (thanks to Chribba) and look around! I onyl wish you had more advanced searching on eve-agents, such as exclusing low-sec and searching for only agents that share a station with another agents of the same lvl/type.
Oh well, you can dream
Edit: I'll check out Grismar, and see how it is. There used to be a download, EVE Maps, that had all the agents and you could set things up in it. Very nice but I don't know if there was a new version since the rerouting of all the stargates.
Also, to the best of my knowledge there isn't a limit on how many storylines you can have available at a time, I had 6 this past weekend. Problematically, the game keeps picking them farther and farther away from you and one may end up in lo-sec

I can't remember the system, but, for minmatar there is a low sec system with 3 q20 agents all in the same system, all you need is a stabber to run missions for them since it's only 3. Dunno may be worth looking into. I noticed minmatar seem to have more low sec L4's than the rest.
