Dear capsuleers,
It has com to my attention that our planets may be in danger. Some time ago there have been wide spread rumors that there may be actual people living down there serving us, not only automated machines. There was also a tiny rumor that there may even be soldiers.
Naturally, we, the demigods roaming the skies laughed at this idea, knowing that whoever would ever try to stand against any single one of us, would be turned to dust. Any army on a surface of a planet would be nothing more than a breeze of fresh tears and grief. We all know that, or rather we all knew that.
The so-called "threat" of mortals rising against us to either fight us or join us has become even more probable. I have been informed, by my well whipped mortal servants, that the surface vermin are going to start testing their fighting abilities without our participation and permission. I find it essential that whoever has a strange, ancient device, called a ps3 take part in the tests to leak us information about their progress.
The source of http://www.dust514.org/ has also confirmed the existance of the tests starting soon(tm). God help the mortals, because if he won't, we certainly will turn them to dust.

It's a PS3 shooter. You don't assume they actually lose anything by dying, do you? |

Actually they do... As I've seen all tanks and gear are lost upon death. That's why we provide stuff to them for battles - because they can't afford it. The key thing is that they don't own the stuff, so they don't really care.
And that's good. The game would never attract a critical mass if the players would lose their hard (lol) earned gear when they died.

True, they don't own it, they are mercenaries. We give them the goods, but all the goods they get will cost us money.
As far as I recall the most expensive stuff will even cost up to 10m or so? The command thingy or whatever, I'll have to watch that trailer again. In any case, they will treat it like garbage, probably get it destroyed and laugh their ass off while they crack another beer on their sofa. Most of those players probably don't even realize they're wasting other people's "hard earned" money :D |

They won't be drinking beer, remember it's a shooter, so I doubt the average age (on release) will go above 14, maybe 15 :P
But yeah, on the sofa, sipping something, not caring. Unless they'll want to take part in eve, then it'll be fun :D "Have you had your morning coffee?" -> the Coffee Lovers Brewing Club is recruiting! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=363976#post363976 |

To be honest crunchies invading my planets and blowing up my buildings actually concerns me a great deal. If they intend for us to defend our PI infrastructure then they better make it a lot more profitable. I make money on my PI but not enough to consider dumping additional ISK into the facilities to actually defend them. I think if D514 is successful its going utterly ruin the PI market. The big fish will become whales and the little fish will become fish food.
Its exciting and terrfying to think of another front in the never ending conflict in WH, Null, and LS. Hopefully BSs and BCs can be used in the planetary bombardment role. Or hopefully I can buy myself a nice lil Merc outfit to guard my stuff for cheap. But relying on or trusting anyone in this game is a mistake so maybe not. I know god forbid they actually have any vested interest in the outcome.
That sounds exactly the kind of game I want to play! 'perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim'

Well, I seriously doubt they'll be able to invade WHs unless someone delivers the clones... And in fact, as far as I recall you have to deliver the clones in the first place for them to be able to fight at all? So 0.0 as well as WH PI is relatively safe. What is unsafe is high sec and low sec PI.
But that's just a speculation of mine, maybe it will work differently. "Have you had your morning coffee?" -> the Coffee Lovers Brewing Club is recruiting! https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=363976#post363976 |
