I live in Caldari space and this have some high faction standings as I do alot of missions. But, I have moved in the direction of Gallente for ships and the like. So, I would like to start missions with Gallente agents to get some Gallente Faction Battleships from LP.
I notice that with my diplomacy skills, I am somewhere a negative 4.0 with Gallente. I have not headed to Gallente space yet, but wanted to hear from anyone with experience in this.
Will I be able to find an agent to talk with me when I go there? Even level 1s, I dont mind toughing out them till I raise it.
Obviously adding diplomacy would help, but cannot go up much on diplomacy now as I have level 3 or 4 already.
Are there any other ways to raise the faction standing?

Diplomacy at lvl 5 should get you up to a standing of -1.2 (if your standing of -4 is pre-skills). So yes, you should be able to find low quality lvl 1 agents to start the slow and boring process of raising your gallente faction standings.
As a side note, you don't need faction standings to access faction battleships, you can as well focus on a specific corporation within the Gallente faction.

Someone there should like me, even if I have killed many of their own. Maybe even bring in some of my prized dogtags from them... ha ha ha

If your standing is too low for Gallente missions you will have to do missions for Minmatar or the Sissies for a while. |

You need no worse than -2 adjusted standing with a faction to begin running missions for an 'enemy' corp. If your favored faction standings are fairly high and you can't get to -2 with skills, one other way to raise your 'unfavored' faction standings is to intentionally fail your favored faction's storyline missions.
For example, say you're Gallente standings are -2.6 including skills and your Caldari standings are 8+. If you don't really need your Caldari standings to be that high for any reason, then you could fail a couple Caldari storyline missions and your Gallente standings will improve significantly.

Wouldn't it be much easier to keep doing what you're doing, get Caldari faction ships, and trade them for Gallente faction ships? Changing your faction like this is a lot of work.

make missions for caldari until storyline ,take the storyline and refuse to make it your standing will dramatically lower with caldary but will go up for gallente

Try with Sister of EvE Agents.
They are more or less neutral with Caldari but have very good standing with gallente
But you need to be above -2.0 with Servant Sister of EvE, just to start.

Great advice.... thanks alot. I will do both, the storyline turn down and the sisters of eve.....hopefully will not be bad for both..... :-D

Can anyone confirm that failing storyline missions will increase your personal standing with enemy factions?
I tried this on the test server and all I got was standing hits to friendly factions. There was no corresponding increase in my standing toward any enemy faction.
It was a Minmatar agent and Minmatar, SOE, Galente, The Society, Jove, ORE and Interbus standings all fell as you would expect.
I could find no faction with an increased standing.

i've tried to fail storyline missions for caldary to raise some pirate-faction standing some time ago and it works fine. only one thing to note : fraction to which u want increase standing must have negative standing to fraction, for which u fail storylines. |

Create a gang with at least one player with good standing to start the mission and share the standing reward.

yep, going to try and raise my alts standings real quick. damn 5% loss when i refine :x
