Thank you for the response and it does clear things up a bit.
No mention of why petitions do not have timestamps... I can only assume its an issue of them being accidentally cut off as any customer service system worth its salt would have timestamps on everything. It certainly could not have anything to do with possibly being filed well after the supposed incident in the ISD IRC.
I've got not idea what this is about CCP Admiral Charmander being kicked from the in-game CCP corp/character deleted. Somehow I think the most likely answer to this is going to be 'he never was in the corp.' But then I've no idea if he ever was in game/in the corp.
God am I a sarcastic detail oriented *******... My sincere apologies. I am sure having a good deal of your player-base up in arms and ****ed off at you conducting their own version of the Spanish inquisition is not a heart-warming feeling. Having this level of openness to your player-base though... its self-defeating. If you are open, but not 100% translucent every potential mistake (such as the missing time-stamps) will be interpreted in the most sinister manner possible. But well, I wouldn't care so much if I didn't love your product so much. |

Originally by: Avon As for Orange, he was dumb to say what he did, even jokingly. Maybe he should be punished rectroactively, I don't know.
That would imply these rules have not always been in place. Somehow I doubt 'no telling people you can get a Dev to ban you/fire you' is a new concept. |

Originally by: Avon I don't want more transparency, I want a fair game. I would much rather that any infringement of the rules, if by staff or players, is kept completely confidential, as it should be.
That works fine if it never gets out. Which is why the current level of CCP openness is... lacking. It exists, CCP is a fairly open company and has probably the best player/dev interaction out there. But it's a half-measure and that leads to...

If someone says something to that effect to you ingame, please petition it using the æHarassmentÆ category and we will deal with it as harshly as our policies allow.

What? I'm a detail oriented *******.

I encourage you to only use these forums using the ingame browser. We could all do with the peace and quiet.
We both know that the boards are essentially 'ingame', BoB knows this especially. To act otherwise is just being ignorant on purpose.

since you guys are still arguing the semantics of "did something happen" and "so what you can't prove something happened anyway" like in the 200+ pages of threads before this, let me try again. quoting these for this page too as i'm not quite sure what it means that even though ccp is innocent as charged the one at blame in one of these incidents has apparently lost his job ^_^ could someone explain me?
It is an intersting point... and does seem kind of odd. But hey, lets not jump to any conclusions... |

I am sorry, you are just plain WRONG here.
Your average MMO player doesn't care about accusations that happened over an incident a year ago. They care about how fun the game is to play. The only bad "publicity" I have seen ANYWHERE is people like you trying to continuously beat CCP with past transgressions that they have admitted too and put safe-guards in place to help prevent in the future.
less than a 5 months ago actually...
Quote: This "bad publicity" hasn't stopped them from gaining over 25k PAYING accounts in the last 4 months. That is almost a 20% player increase.
How many more would it have been? Thats how bad publicity affects your business. You lose customers now, and people who might have become customers never will.
Quote: Personally I would like to see CCP proclaim any such discussion on their forums involving T20 to be a bannable offense. Knock it off and quit living in the past. It has no relevance to the current issues.
CCP's past behavior regarding potential developer misconduct has no bearing on current issues regarding potential developer misconduct?
There's no timestamps on the petitions, there is still no one talking about IRC and Local Logs concerning Orange, Admiral Charmander and the ISD member. Admiral Charmander has now had his account deleted... with no comment from CCP. Strange. The first one I can assume to merely be a mistake. The second one I can assume to be a gross oversight in their investigation. The third? Makes no sense to me. If he is innocent there is no reason to delete the account. If he is guilty...

You don't care if the person being implicated as corrupt no longer exists, and was removed from existence without any comment? Thats like not caring if the person who robbed you of 10 million dollars is still in the country or happens to be sitting at the beach drinking margaritas and staring at some bikini clad supermodels while on a pleasant Caribbean island without an extradition treaty. |

Did YOU personally verify? Or are you simply taking someone else's word at it too?
I looked at the screen shots. I see no signs of tampering and I created a test character to see if the longer names do extend over the line or not like they do in the screen shot. They do indeed. So they're enough to make me go 'ok CCP, explanation please?"
You know those ones on top of pg 4, and the ones I'm putting right here for ya

Mind you SA.com is infamous/famous for their photoshops and this could be done as a photoshop I'm sure. I could probably pull it off. But it still makes me want to ask. |

Right so we don't know why Charmander disappeared. We don't have any explanations for why the petitions regarding a very time sensitive issue have no timestamps. We're not told why that same petition is being filed by a bunch of characters in a station. We have an Internal Affairs department that is either not willing/capable to look at the local logs in EVE and the IRC logs of the ISD to verify or deny the allegations presented against them.
And CCP has gone mute. Which is fine really. They're praying and hoping this issue will die unresolved so that the tinfoil hats will grumble while paying their subscriptions and the rest of EVE who aren't willing to think about CCP's response/are content with it regardless will go on paying their subscriptions.
And for all the people throwing out the 'why would CCP ever cheat like this, it can only hurt them!' Why would CCP ever come clean about it either? In this situation, unlike in T20's case, they control 100% of the evidence and it is on them to make themselves look guilty or innocent and they have the total ability to limit, twist and fabricate information to make themselves appear either or. What incentive do they as a profit making company have to do anything but make themselves look innocent when the allegations are this serious?
Perhaps CCP has finally pulled off their first decent PR move.
I'm done arguing about this. I've made my concerns and questions known. Any reply not from CCP is not worth my time to read. |
