Seems like a big enough web site to be somewhat influential.
Anyways, I noticed EVE was number two in the top 5 mmorpgs they have listed (including web admin and player votes)
I found it interesting nevertheless.

I found it interesting the devs were surprised EVE got a 6.9 for fun.

Just for you Admiral IceBlock. Anyway it is back to #1 again. Seems to be switching spots back and forth with UO.

Nope, EVE runs smooth as a bell for me. Maybe your Internet connection? Or maybe hardware issue ... I dunno. But ya its smooth and no problems, no CTD, no nothing for me anymore. This is how the game should have been released back in May.

Im with Cao on this too. I got nothing but smooth sailing in the Eve universe.
Maybe its my l33t WIN98SE build I run. We will see as I am installing a ne HD and WIN XP in the next day or so. Spelling corrections welcome, but don't expect me to edit my post. |

Get a better conection, I only have a 1/2 meg line and EVE don't lag on me. I run at 15-60 FPS depending what is on my screen, and at 15 FPS I can still do what I need to do. Yes EVE has been designed to run on a very poor conection that don't mean it will run well.
So to stress I ain't ever sufferd lag on EVE.

Bosie.
Data transfer rate for Eve is capped well below 56kb/s. Just like every MMOG on the market, except for Second Life which requires a high-speed connection. Since everyone pays the same monthly fee it's not cost effective to allow someone with a bigger connection to use more bandwidth.
Connection speed is immaterial. Connection quality is another story.

Eve has run smooth as a baby's bum for months.
Admittedly, the GUI is a bit screwed up (scrolling is a nightmare, show info is s l o w, and the map doesn't update properly) but everything else seems fine and dandy.

Fleet battles? My god, there is a reason why you seldomly find servers in first person shooter games with higher cap than 64, and they are restricted to high speed connection users and the players are mostly located in the same country EVE however is for all connection speeds and runs around the world ofcourse there is bound to be lag when you engage in battle with 20+ ppl.

obviously you havent been in too many large battles lately, because those are my specs and whenever too many people are involved in a battle, it lags terribly. kthxbye

2.3Ghz, 1.5GB DDR RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, 512kbit connection with WinXP Pro SP1.
In the last really big engagement (again in HLW) that I was involved with pre-Castor, there was not much lag at all.
Was involved in a big fight recently (but much more smallscale than the one above) and the lag was worse post-Castor.
Something is definitely not right as far as lag goes - jumping through Empire is horrible sometimes because of the number of NPC cops/rats around gates too.

I think alot of peoples lag has to do with video lag.
There are many things you can do.
Turn off transparencies.
Turn off trails.
Don't update turrets.
Set planet detail to low.
Etc.
I do this before fights. Makes a big difference, especially in asteroid fields.
Hope that helps you guys.
~Pod ya later!
