Nothing can stop logofskies, not even 5 points of scram. They will not warp, but simply disappear after 30 seconds...

It depends on the situation. If youare in a fight, and the pilot you're attacking is inside a dictorsphere, and subsequently logs off, then yes, the dictor sphere will hold them there.
If, however, they jump through a gate, into a dictor sphere, and then logoff, without decloaking, the ship appears for 1 minute, but you can not lock it. At the end of the minute, it disappears.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |

Interesting idea though...what if, at the point of "problems" with connection, your pod jumps away, leaving the ship?
This way NPC pirates wouldn't shoot you(don't think they shoto an unmanned ship and for "sure" don't pod).
You would warp back to your ship and could easily "board ship" if in some situation.
And best of all, would be rather "iffy" to cut your own connection when faced with dire straits

And yet logging off during combat is more prevalent now than at any other time. Whilst logging provides some form of immunity, people will always do it. The trend I see at present, is for people to logoff, as their ship is going down, and then a minute or two later, log back on, when their pod has dropped from warp, to warp away in relative safety, since the attacker doesn't know quite where the pod will land (somewhere within 15km of the wreckage of their ship).

Yeah, but it would be less tempting to just cut connection and hope your ship survives. When if the pod would warpeject, you would deffo loose the ship. This added with the current "loggoff" avoiding things, like if you cut connection inside a bubble after aggression, your pod would stay too, it might become less of a prefered option.

Well, depends really.
If it's a long connection borking, then it might be a problem. But this could be fixed by the ship being in "lockdown" and noone being able to enter it. It could still be blown up.

Oh right, lose a ship cos your line DC'd due to lag. CCP would be petitioned to death.

Well it's a suggestion for the "problem" at hand, i never said it would be 100% perfect.
Poeple lose things in games due to connection issues anyway, this would atleast take out the "want to cut own cord" issue.
Atleast to an extent.

i will have to test this out. but somehow, i dont think it works. they sure like to shoot unmanned drones after a disconnect... i have a feeling that they will just continue to destroy your ship.
1) get aggro 2) eject 3) see if rats are still shooting the empty ship
~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |
