Enyo/deimos/Astarte loose to their gallente counterparts... Why? Because they start with 83.75/67.5 resists, leaving you doing jack damage while their drones can do a different damage type

Originally by: Vyktor Abyss Both are great ships, but 1v1, pretty much no Astarte setup could beat a well tanked NOS EOS with 5 EC-900 drones.
You are suggesting an all out nos setup with no damage drones?
What are you trying to do annoying your enemy till he logs off?
Sorry I wasn't very clear - I meant a split NOS setup of 3 NOS and the rest blasters (I have to use Ions + 1 electron to fit). However you forgot that the very large drone bay means when you see the Astarte low on cap you can whack out the Hammerhead IIs instead of the E-900s.
Takes a little while to take down the Astarte, but it has no realistic fitting that can win it the day vs such an EOS.

Originally by: Captain Powers I can never really see it using 3 magstabs in the lows. Even with this setup, I don't think it could break what firepower an EOS can do.
I guess this carries over from the rumors that an Ishtar can out damage a Deimos.
For me, my Deimos far out damages my Ishtar. I have nice Gunnery skills, and since I can field T2 Heavy Drones with Drone Interfacing lvl 5, I suppose my Drone skills aren't too bad either, damage wise.
Looking at the stats for the Eos, and even disregarding it's role and fitting as many blasters as possible, I still fail to see, numerically, how it can out damage an Astarte.
With the new drone skills, even more so than before. Combat Drone Operations only apply to Light and Medium drones, not Heavies. So the Deimos and the Astarte, not only get ship related gunnery bonuses, but inherit skill based Drone bonuses specifically for their Medium Drones. If the damage difference was marginal before, the gap should be a bit wider as the 5 Hammerhead IIs from either the Deimos or Astarte now have a possible 25% additional increase to their damage modifier.
The Ishtar or Eos, trying to double up on Drone damage bonuses, would likely see a dramatic decrease in DPS from using Heavies, so such a bonus is less beneficial or noticable for the drone ships.

Edited by: Gaius Sejanus on 07/06/2007 03:32:41 Light/Medium drones do not get an bonus 25% damage. The controlling skills is "Scout Drone Operations", which provides a range control bonus (a bonus it provides to ALL drones, not just lights/mediums), and does nothing for their damage. Combat Drone Ops is to compensate for their base skill not providing anything the way Heavy Drones Ops and Sentry Drone Ops give to their respective charges.

Edited by: Central Scrutinizer on 07/06/2007 08:54:00 Assuming t2 drones are available, the Astarte only outdamages the Eos if you have CS V, or are using multiple mag stabs.
This also ignores travel time for drones, but blasters and slow speed of CS pretty much negate this as a DPS-lowering factor entirely.
Edit: I think this also assumes Drone Interfacing V.

If you run your EoS like a domi and play the nos-drone-EW-tank card, you will soak a lot more damage then an astarte and deal a little less. However, in small gang, you can hold the field longer and contribute in more ways. . .the chin protrution takes time to accept though. . .
