I'm Minmatar, with the long term goal of flying a Naglfar (yes, I know it takes 1 year+ of training to effectively fly a dreadnought).
Looking at some statistics, though, it seems that Minmatar capital ships (Hel and Nidhoggur as well as Naglfar) are by the far the least flown.
Is this because they are bad ships in comparison to other races'? Should I be training Gallente/Amarr/Caldari instead if capital ships are my ambition?

So training them is a bad idea?
And if so, what should I go for instead?

minny caps are sub par but are a nice choice gallente & amarr caps are pretty decent. Caldari have the disadantage as capital shield tanking us extreamly cap heavy.
With the present state of amarr gall would be the best choice imo.

A warning about training for the 'best' ship, especially one that takes so long to train: By the time you have trained for it, it will probably have been nerfed.
I think minmatar might be a pretty good choice right now. The caps have been in need of love for some time now so they just might get it.

caps in need of love? yeah the minnie one is sup par with the rest. But atm eve is way to concentrated on capital ships imo. they should be nerfed not loved.

with all shift and pace Nig could be the daddy in the blink of a patch, then whineage may re occur. But saying that with not the whole of EVE in Capitals it aint a whine fest yet.

the Nidhoggur really isn't the best carrier for direct combat but is still decent and has other advantages. the nag is a great dread. a lot of ppl fly the rev because it tanks like a beast. the moros because the drone bonus is really sweet and it does pretty good dps. the moros because it can fully change dmg types to any type to target pos's weaknesses but the nag is still good. u can still change between certain ammo types for guns and any dmg type on torps and it tanks pretty well. it's a little annoying tho having to use 2 different dmg mods on a dread but not a huge disadvantage tbh.

Both Naglfar and Nidhoggur are sub-par to other races. Rev 2.0 will not change that. For example, even 1 shield transfer in triage mode will drain your cap in several minutes, so nidhoggur bonus is useless here.
Gallente capitals are great.
Amarr capitals are great, Revelation being best dread in tanking and by far best damage dealer in heavy lag battles due to no reload. Caldari cap's are somewhat lacking in capacitor use department but they are still much better than Minmatars.
