Last I heard about 5% of subscribers are female. I don't know if this was counted by number of accounts or number of unique individuals. Either way, you heard correctly; there aren't a lot of girls who are into EVE.

GIRL in EVE = Guys In Real Life Just kidding.
Can't recall it exactly but I read somewhere that there was a chat channel for girls/females only. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

You are not alone. And for the record some of the most bloodthirsty pirates in EVE history have been female.

I always tend to think there are not enough women who play Eve. I do find the ratio to be interesting though. Still though, I guess I get a bit of a charge knowing that I'm actually a part of that low percentage of women who DO play :)

The more the merrier though (oh, and make that 11 by the way).

Personally, I'm curious to see an estimate of how many male players here would be traumatized when a woman warps along and kicks their teeth in. The whining on these forums sometimes approaches the level one would expect to hear at pre-school.

This happened to come up in chat last weekend; it was said that there are at least 3 RL females in my corp, including me. *wave*
(given my corp's size, i would not be surprised if there are a few more incognito.) ----- We are all stardust... some more often than others. |

I tried to get my gf to play Eve, she tried the 14 day thing and decided not to play. Can't blame a guy for trying.

I really don't care how many women play EVE personally, nor should anyone else. When you make a big deal out of something like this, you make it seem abnormal. There should be a 1:1 ratio of girl to guy gamers.
I'll ignore both camps equally while I mine my fortune.

It's great fun when a trash talking whiner gets popped (in any pvp game) and then you tell them they got beat by a girl and can back up the claim. It shouldn't matter if a player is male or female. But there are some that you know would be absolutely horrified by the thought and are talkin trash and not letting it go, so....

Ive played with quite a few :) Most of them have more balls when it comes to combat then half the squad. If a girl wants to fight, you tag along for sure --------- Its just a game. Get over yourselfs. www.eve-tribune.com Dont get too excited now.

I've only met one girl in all my time on online games, and she wasn't on EVE.
As far as I'm concerned, unless they can supply explicit proof, they're a man.
Though I've never told someone to post pictures or anything. I'll just assume they're male.

From a woman's point of view, that could be quite insulting though. A better rule would be "Anyone who goes around flirting in public channels is probably a guy", that I might buy into.

Yes their are girls in Eve and some corps are even mostly female. Expect a low profile to be kept though.

You can interpret the statement however you want, however, you need to see this from our perspective and not your own. 5% female population in a game means that 1 in 20 players is a woman. Is it more prudent to bet for the 95% sure thing (ie: 19 in 20 players are male) or the less likely, suicidal route of 5% (1 in 20)?
Common sense would press someone to the following logical argument:
There are many more males than females in EVE The player infront of me is male
It is easier to assume the above statements as true, and prove them false, than it is to assume them false and prove them true.
