Flame this all you like guys but atm i am sooo annoyed at ccp it's crazy.
for the past 2 months i have been ratting in the hope to increase my security status so i can re enter high sec should i feel the need to do so.
I, like many others have been hit with some form of security increase bug.
what this means is, if i shoot a 1.85m bs rat in 00, fountain region, i do not get any security increase for it what-so-ever. this also happens in syndicate and curse region for me personaly there is no 15-20 min timer on my toon, i mean i get NOTHING AT ALL!!!! even when i have ratted for 2 days consistantly i have recieved no increase at all.
"Well your a pirate, its supposed to be hard to increase sec status" i hear you cry
this is true, i am a little bit ebil and should expect a slow rise in increase. but to get nothing at all seems a little overkill. i hope you agree with me on that point. i have had a petition running with regards to this problem for over a month accumilating a grand total of 31 replys b4 it got closed down about 15 mins ago.
the end result is, ccp dont want to / cant fix the problem (insert your own opinion here )
So i guess what i am trying to say here is..if u suffer from the same problem as me then your toon is just as useless as mine for any frther deveolpment nd u are forced into a life of piracy. Yes it was choice role play to start with but now your choice has been taken away like mine has. post here if u have same issues just so ccp can see its not a small matter but actualy a rather big bug that they need to pull out of there ++++

Edited by: Drasked on 06/06/2007 10:53:42 So your not getting any sec at all from npc rats?? That is a pretty nasty bug, the emotional damage all te useless ratting might have caused is enough reasons to file a petition and get your sec status reset to 0.0 if you ask me
And what was the final word of the gms?? (dont quote what they said but discribe what they said in a roleplaying fashion so it doesnt get snipped)

Well its a saddening fact that the sec stat increase seems to be kinda broken atm. The even more tradgedy is that you, when the system works, have to rat in 0.0. You dont loose sec stat for piracy in 0.0 you loose it in low-sec --> You should be able to increase your sec-stat in low-sec.
As polarized as eve is atm with large, global scale, alliance wars in null-sec. Carebears that refuse to leave empire contra the pirates, mission runners and other assorted ppl that live in low-sec. I would suggest a viable mean to increase your sec-stat in low-sec. This especially to help the newer players that dabbled some in piracy and then decides to re-roll cause pirating is hard work tbh, especially if you'r a youngling. I believe that since it is faction Navy that engages you when you enter 0.5 with your -10 stamped on your forehead, the standing you have towards that faction should be subtracted from your sec-stat (or more correct added), for example:
You have -8 sec-stat but you have +5 faction with caldari, then you should, by caldari navy, be considered as having -3. To counteract ppl getting +8 faction and then ever-lasting immunity you could create a negative spill-over between sec-stat loss and faction standing where the crime was comitted.

I've been having the same trouble with my alt who's had a few indiscretions recently. I've discovered that:
A session change, be it logging off, jumping to a new system or docking RESETS your NPC timer. Therefore in order to get a sec status increase you must shoot NPCs for 15 minutes in the same system. Then once that 15 minute period is complete you shoot a new rat in the same system and it adds the highest increase you would have gained from the previous 15 minute block.
Eg You shoot crappy little frigs for 15 minutes then at 15.01 you kill a 1.8 mil BS. The increase from the best frig you kill registers in your profile. Then at 30.01 you kill a frig or whatever. The record of the 1.8 mil bs goes down.

I really would like to see this clarified by CCP, if it is the 15 minute rule, you can for sure raise your security status/standing very quickly by only shooting one big rat every time frame (15 minutes) and leave the other Big fatty for the next time frame.
In that case it would be far more easy to do missions in empire to raise sec status and gank the hell out of ppl in low sec.

Had something along these lines myself.. No sec increase, even though killing rats consistently(including a 3.1 million BS),from half hour before dt the other day until approx hour and a half after it... Also had issues day before with no sec increase for belt rats.. If it is a bug..and it must be..then ccp should be able to look at our logs and give relevant increases to sec status based on our bounty payments..

This is the way it works for me aswell. afaik you cannot any longer switch systems after every kill. Before you got the increase 10-15min after the rat you killed if you killed a higher it resets. Now you gotta kill a new rat after 10-15min and only then you get the increase.
So you can kill a 1.8m BS and wait for 3 hours (in the same system), then you kill the next and you will get the increase for the rat killed 3 hours ago and a new timer will start.

I'm surprised you npc'd for so long without realising it wasn't moving up tbh.
Try moving to another area. it does seem to be an isolated incident. only a few areas are still affected but this.
ccp are obviously trying to fix it so bear with them. they're not just sitting around over tea and biscuits laughing at your petition. they are not the gods of all gaming world and infalable. somethings they will struggle to fic. they have brought us this amazing game, try to bear with them and clearly they will fix it when they can.

Fast Talk Fast talk Skill at interacting with Concord. 5% Bonus to effective security rating increase.
If you don't have it yet and you want to increase your sec rating try out "Fast Talk" (I know Social Skills.....GTFO!). So when you actually do get a bump, maximize it. Just a thought.

like i said in other threads, ccp will only fix this if enough people whine for a fix. but i bet they will keep it nerfed somehow with the fix as a countermeasure against suiciders.
possible nerf: if u kill a bs in one system, go to the next kill another one, move on to the 3rd and kill another bs, then u wont get 3 sec increases in 15 min anymore like it was before the "bug". i think they wanted to implement this with a stealthnerf but they totally screwed it up
thx alot ccp, im not going to pay for a game where i got to npc for 5 days to get 1 sec increase. if u want to make a carebeargame, then make a 2nd server for the bears where ya cant shoot other players
or is it a stealthnerf to highsec suicide pirates? |

I know this only applies to missions but maybe its the cause of the bug...
--- The ships in the missions have a pre-set max security status give our (if that makes any sense).
If your security status is higher than the "rat" you are fighting then you won't get any increase. --- -----------

Bug.
Got no sec status gain from April, nothing that GM's, who were very helpful, could do.
When I bug reported it, I got a mail saying it was a bug they had not seen before and it was in the queue to be fixed, that was about 3 weeks ago.
Hopefully being given a big chunk of looking at.

I never knew it was broken. Take it for what is worth. Its a cheap ass skill to learn and it wont cause the world to implode if it did not work. Besides if you had the skill, wouldn't you be ahead of the game when it is fixed.

Yeah, I had this problem. Petitioned it and after a lot of exhanges they passed it on and plan to fix it in Revelations Two later this month.
Basically, I needed to log off in space and then after killing the first rat when I logged back in, I would get an increase. This would last between 0-5 or so more times before it definitely stopped again and I needed to relog in space for it to work again.
This is by no means foolproof. It didn't always work for me, seems to be a 50/50 chance that any particular logoff works.
And btw: I have once character with Fast Talk 3, and one without. Both get excatly the same sec increases.

Edited by: Drazar II on 09/06/2007 02:32:00 yup i'm in the same boat but here is something i have from back in the day. and yes the skill is still broken i get the same sec gain from a battleship rat from when i got this email. ps i have lvl 5 fast talk skill.
Response ([GM]Fate) - 09/27/2005 08:49 AM Hi Drazar II, The fast talk skill is currently broken. We are working on that and hope to have it fixed soon. The reason you see a different security status on your character sheet then your actual status is because of the connections skill. Please note that if you travel to high security space concord will look at your actual standings before Connections is applied when they determine if you are a valid target or not. This means that you can't go into 0.5 space even though your character sheet states that you can. You'll have to get your actual standings below -5 before you can do that. If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us again. We'll do all we can to help. Best regards, [GM]Fate The EVE Online Customer Support Team
