Hey everyone. I was wondering, what is your browsers homepage? Why is it your homepage? Also what is your browser? Why do you use that browser?
So to start things off here is a screen shot of mine.
Yes it is a rather sad. BBC Business page. I am interested in business news really. The browser is Firefox 2.0.0.4 with a skin to make it look like 1.5 as that version looks better. I use Firefox as I have customised it to exactly the look, feel and ease of use that I want. I also find its the best all rounder imo.

I use Google, just because theres very very little on the front page. As 99% of the time I see my homepage I don't actually intend to use it for anything, I like something that loads quickly and unexciting.

Custom, google homepage.. has the weather for my hometown, news stories, horoscope, my gmail inbox and it did have pacman.... also a wikipedia searchbar!

My homepage is Google. Why? It loads quickly, and it means that I simply have to load my browser and type if I need to search for something.
I use Firefox because I can do that with the bar thing, and I have used it since forever. I tried Opera and got cravings to go back to Firefox

For the longest time I used about:blank but felt I wanted some actual content (it did load fast though)...
These days I use Google Home, iGoogle or whatever you want to call it with stuff like Gmail, various newsfeeds (Slashdot, Eve etc), basically the essentials I don't really need but nevertheless like to keep handy.

Google seems to be quite popular. Not been much talk on browsers and why you use them though. What does everyone else use for a browser and have as their homepage?

i have mine set to my.yahoo.com it has my email, some news, some scores and some other random stuff if i ever really wanted to look at it and it loads so fast because it changes oncea day so FIREFOX remembers it and FRIEFOX is the best browser around, why do i use it you ask? well, ie is too slow and firefox is fast and has shiny toys...

Can't say I have a 'homepage' - It's Google (Firefox), but I close that immediately and open a bookmark folder with all the forums I (still) visit.

Why waste time loading a page you've seen a squillion times? Live fast, browse fast, bsod young thats my outlook on the intraweb.

Still using IE6. I just kinda like it. Never got the knack of Firefox, though I do use the Thunderbird thing for e-mail. |

I don't have a homepage. Well, its Google, but since I have my previous session restore whenever I start Firefox, I never actually see my homepage.

Same here, my home page is actually 9 quickly accessible giant bookmarks. And one of them does point to my customized Google page.

At home I have xkcd as my homepage, but at work its the BBC news site.
xkcd is win, and the BBC news site is safe.
I use Firefox at home and work, apart from when I'm wasting my work time playing on MSN Zone, where I use IE7. I used to use Opera for the mouse gestures, but couldn't be bothered paying for/*****ing everytime I reinstalled.
You take what is offered. And that must sometimes be enough. |
