Considering the maturity of these forums I was hoping to see if there were any other therians here without getting the normal gambit of responses being a therianthrope gets you.
Let me start right off by stating that Therianthropy is not a religion. I've read and respect the rules of this forum.
For those you who do not know what therianthropy is: Quote: A therianthrope -or therian- is a person who believes that while they have a human body, some important part of their mind, identity, or spirit is that of a nonhuman animal.
Therianthropy is not a religion it is not a philosophy. For those of us who experience it it is a fact.
In my case I believe a large part of my identity is that of a goat. It became apparent to me for a couple of reasons. I'm very hairy (as anyone who saw the picture I posted of myself in the picture thread in this forum) and I'll eat just about anything. But more than that where others see the Goat as a tin-chewing livestock and nothing more I really identified with the majesty of the Goat and through my dreams and other measures, I was able to commune with the Goat spirit that dwells within me. I refer to this portion of my identity as 'Esau' after the hairy Biblical character.
Let me stress something right now: Being a Therian is nothing like being a furry. Furries are children at play, sex play more often than not, and it's pretty offensive to therians such as myself who have had real and true experiences with the animal essences within them to be compared to a bunch of weirdos who dress up in silly costumes. No offense to any furries who might be reading this.
I do not find myself physically attracted to goats or animals because that would make no sense in my current form. I do believe that if I continue to commune with my inner Goat I will one day transcend from being a spiritual shifter to a physical shifter and I will take the form of a Goat. Hopefully permanently.
For those of you who have never heard of this I know it sounds weird but people believe all sorts of things that are really weird, just because a lot of people share the same idea does not make it any more right.
If anyone has any questions I'd be happy to hear them and I'd love to hear fellow Therian's experiences.

I suggest Meditation and train yourself into lucid dreaming. Others recommend more extreme measures. All I'll say on that topic is that the psychtropic substance Salvia Diviniorium is legal in the United States and many find it useful for spiritual journies.
You should start a journal if you are serious about it, it was a great boon to me for introspection.

Though I did read up on meditation and have done it as a beginner for let's say, for a total of a few hours, I'm far from practiced.
But lucid dreaming, now that's my boat, have been on it for years. I have gotten down that, dream control, and out-of-body experiences pretty dang frequently. It's rare for me to dream and not know I'm dreaming.
But hrm, I'll try a journal of some type. Dreams always were heavy introspection on oneself.

This reminds me of that Star Trek Voyager episode where Captain Janeway finds out that her animal thingamabob is a salamander.
I came in here originally to mock and make fun (it's what I do), but I won't.

Lemme turn this into a sexual orientation debate then.
I absolutely hate that people think just because someone does not tolerate a persons homosexuality that they're automatically a homophobe.
I've got no irrational fear of homosexuals, I do however think they should keep their unnatural acts behind closed doors.
Anyways, furfaggotry is the cancer that is killing the internet.

On a more serious note is this thread a joke? You believe you're a goat, spiritually?
I don't get society these days. If I were to say I was a Christian I'd face no end of ridicule. Yet if someone says they believe their spirit is a goat they get a clap on the back.

You're telling me that homosexuals have the personal freedom to do whatever they wish, but I don't?
I choose to loathe a group of people, where is it written that a person must like everyone? Move out of your parents basement, stop watching whatever garbage it is that seems to be telling you that the world is a lovely place where we're all tolerant and understanding.
The world is all kittens and rainbows correct? We all get along really swell and we're all keen to share the beliefs of our neighbours, right?

It's "hip" to have obscure beliefs nowadays, didn't you know?
Soon as this arsewhistle of an OP stops getting attention from the internet/friends/family for his "controversial" beliefs, he'll give up on it.

Ok, so bigot sits well with you then I keep wondering, as you tar everyone with the same brush who deviates from your moral self righteousness, whether you have actually sat down and examined your bigotry? It seems such a ridiculous, and unthought out point of view, that anyone with half a brain would dismiss it on simple consideration. I can only guess that those who remain intolerant of such a significant part of society, must lack the intellectual and emotional means to deal with their own inadequacies, and prefer to transfer their personal fears on to another.

It's not about dealing with inadequacies. Why do you keep stomping on that? Mud, although a little aggressive in his opinion, is right. Or at least, I agree with him in principle.
Despite the current Western hemisphere's obsession with tolerance, I believe this restricts our freedom to express ourselves. You have an opinion and lifestyle which I find bizarre and I think you need help. If you're man enough to post those opinions on here, then be man enough to accept that some people think you're insane.

It's a backward, stupid, intolerant way of thinking. That's all I'm saying. He's welcome to be a bigot, but don't expect such stupidity not to be pointed out. And it is about dealing with inadequacies. What is their in being homosexual that 1. has anything to do with him? 2. only those who haven't joined the 21st C hold the view that it is immoral. 3. what we shouldn't be tolerant human beings, what kind of neanderthal are you? 4. to feel threatened by someone who is homosexual is utterly ridiculous. what is there to be threatened by? and don't bs me and say that's not what it's about, it is.

I said unnatural, not immoral.
You keep calling me a bigot, whatever you gotta do to rationalize my belief that people ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE TOLERANT.
I don't have to accept you, I don't have to like you, I don't want to hug and be friends. It's not a goddamn requirement of me just because society says so.
I don't go out of my way to make friends with people from different cultures, I like mine fine and I don't want or need anything more. I don't care for multicultural festivals, crap like that. Going to call me a racist? I just don't care about other cultures.
Hell, I may even decide I don't like a culture, purely based on an ideal they hold. Perhaps they worship a symbol I don't like, perhaps they're Muslims? Christians?, etc.
I don't have to be accepting of everyone around me.
