"What you fail to realize is that you can't force a carebear into being a hardcore gamer. You take out lvl 4 missions and high sec mining, he will find another carebear solution, or eventually quit the game. So what's the point?"
A game with fewer whiney carebears in it.

Originally by: Bistot Kid I totally agree with the OP.
Give the OP and his ilk their own server to run in hardcore mode. No need for a cluster, as there will only be a few hundred occupants. Take away every bit of the comfort zone.
Hell, even make the chair inside your pod really uncomfortable, squeaky and with one leg shorter than the others so you need to put a bit of rolled up newspaper under it if that's what floats your boat.
Then everyone else can stay on TQ and go about their business doing a bit of PvP, a bit of mining, a bit of mission running in peace.
You don't even get to whine about us carebears causing you lag.
That my dear fellow is what we call a "win / win" situation.
or, since EvE is meant to be a dark, brutal, non-consensual-PvP game in the first place, why don't we let the carebears have their own server? You know, since the "hardcore" players were here first. Heck, let's cut to the chase and just ask CCP to release a single-player version of EvE. i'm sure it would be pretty easy... in fact it would even serve a useful purpose in playtesting new modules and such. Then you can run level 4 or 14 or 40 missions all day in your elite faction Deathstars or whatever, and it won't ruin the multiplayer environment with it's annoying requirements for risk-reward balancing and players who insist on treating it like some kind of MMO.

Erm, because the point was that the hardcore players actually make up such a minority. Do keep up old chap.
If it ever did come down to two equally sized clusters, one where Concord provided absolute security in high sec for example, I'd be totally happy to move.
You mean you made an unsupported assertion that they're in the minority?

Malcanis, what you fail to see is that CCP wants even more "whiney carebears" in their game because more players mean more money for them. And since there aren't that many people who like so-called hardcore pvp it's the carebears who have to fill the gap. Is it that hard to understand?
I fail to understand why carebears annoy PvP players that much. We do not stand in your way when you want to play the game the way you like. And we are the ones who make your mods, ammo and ships. Yes, PvPers can do that on their own, but I'm ready to bet that you don't invest that much time in production, research and mining as we do.
Erm, EvE was designed from he start as a niche game.
Carebears are annoying for one reason only: they cry for game changes that affect everyone. Players who mainly mine or manufacture or trade are not ipso facto carebears. Players who, rather than engage the game on equal terms believe that they deserve to "win" are carebears.
Yet oddly, players who believe they should be invulnerable while mining or mission running never seem to think that combat PvPers should be immune from their economic PvP. Freighters or haulers that can't be ganked are the equivalent of player-owned Concord ships. It's not a good idea that I should have a ship that can't be destroyed and always wins fights; it's not a good idea that traders have a ship that gives them a huge, untouchable source of income. It's not a good idea that mission runners can't be found and attacked.
Would you trade hi-sec invulnerability for a fixed at item database price market? How would it be if the only place where you could sell what you mine or make or loot for the price you like was in 0.0?
Now that would be interesting, wouldn't it? Then Empire really would be as it was intended, the safe "training ground" that you have to leave if you really want to succeed at any aspect of the game. And - bonus! - Jita is fixed

Unsupported? Get online. Go to the map. Select the filter: Average pilots in space in the last 30 minutes. There is your proof.
You fail logic.
Prove that everyone in hi-sec hates combat.

That cuts both ways. Give me an accurate census of all known Raven farmers in 0.0.
Thank you for proving my point that there is no accurate way to determine the proportion of 'hardcore' vs 'carebear'.

"No. Because EvE is a sandbox, I will not tolerate restrictions on my playing."
Restrictions like... Concord?

"Maybe EvE isn't for you any more. Ever think that maybe the "good old days" were good simply because you hadn't been playing for 3+ years? Maybe its time to move on...."
I joined EvE in September last year.
