ok this is interesting
people not getting things back from petitions when they get a suicide run on there billions of cargo, yet a dev says if someone does it with smartbombs he may get GM intervention... now thats a big difference of what CCP finds accepable, which spells uh oh!!
this will be an interesting thread, please keep it updated :)

Jita isn't a newbie system as far as I know, so griefing newbies doesn't apply. Newbies can be anywhere anyway, so where is that line drawn? Don't get me wrong, I have no plans on doing anything like this, hypocrisy and double-standards just really bug me. Is suicide ganking a feature of EVE or not, make up your minds. I see this as a good thing for Jita, doesn't CCP want people to spread out more? Then let the players help you with that.

I wouldn't recommend doing this, it didn't work out well for the last set of people who tried it in yulai -

Since then they changed it so that people remote repping the perpetrator will be shot as well - so youve got untill concord pops your gang. It's still doable though. A fully plated and extended phoon or rokh will get off 4 blasts of the SB (with skill at 4) before he gets killed.

Afaik you missed the point, I know they changed the mechanics of the game to prevent this from happening again, but it doesn't take a genious to work out they would rather not have any sort of similar incident, that being said, you are within game mechanics. -

i would say this cant be bannable for doing once, so people need to do it more than once, perhaps a few people, say 6 people do it, it can be worded as a protest to help others against suicide ganking

The way it was done was they had multiple logistics ships remote repping the perpetrator thus being able to hold it forever.
Now you cant. So, it's fixed.

I¦m not going to say how and why the others did it, but if you make a habit out of it be prepared to receive a GM luvin¦.
If you won't say it, then I will.
The 'others' would be the player Miz Cenuji.
The 'how' would be as follows: With your -10 character waiting at a safespot in a pod, use an alt character to fly and position the Bombageddon where it will get the most kills. Gang-warp the -10 player to the position of the bombageddon, and have the alt character eject from the ship. As quickly as possible, have the -10 player board the ship, and set off the entire rack of smartbombs before getting blown up.
In regards to 'why' he did it? CCP kept nerfing pirating, and he got bored.
And yes, he was threatened to be banned by GMs if he did not stop.

if i recall right, the main issue is people recycling alt to do this, which is against the EULA(?) and generally frowned upon.

GMs have already said suiciding in highsec is allowed. You ARE punished (sec hit) so what's the biggie? While I wouldn't do this myself, it's not against the rules. If a GM hassles you, find some other GM quotes to throw in his face.

from the TOS
#6 You will follow the instructions of authorized personnel while in the EVE Online game world or using the EVE Online web site.
#15 You may not do anything that interferes with the ability of other EVE Online subscribers to enjoy the game or web site in accordance with its rules. This includes, but is not limited to, making inappropriate use of any public channels within the game and/or intentionally creating excessive latency (lag) by dumping cargo containers, corpses or other items in the game world.
#24 CCP reserves the right to close, temporarily or permanently, any userĘs account without advance notice as we deem necessary. Furthermore, we reserve the right to delete all user accounts or inventory of characters as warranted.
#25 We reserve the right to ban any user from the game without refund or compensation.
any of the above could apply. if a GM says stop, you have to stop. "but the game mechanic lets me do it" is not defense.

Actually if a GM says stop you don't have to do jack. Sure you face getting banned, but he's not going to bust down your door and beat you. If you want to go out with a bang, do it.
Besides, seeing how often ccp switches back and forth on what is and is not allowed, just ask another GM if it's ok and eventually you'll find one that says yes.

Quite possibly... because you won't just kill ships. If you get a few frigs/shuttles on the first cycle then the next cycle will kill their pods and THAT will drop your sec status like a lead balloon.

Edited by: Sean Dillon on 12/06/2007 07:07:33 Last time i tried I was lucky and got 7 ship kills. You need to put yourself between the jita 4/4 station and 5.001 m from the perimeter gate. At a sunday evening prime time and the gate lagging alot of people, you might get 6 or 7 kills.
I didn't ask the GM, never heard anything of it. Though I am sure this action created atleast 4 petitions, but what do I care? I do it for the fun.

Now all we need is an educated guess as to the amount of people that can be killed with the stealtbomber bombs when they come out.
In the end CCP might actually be pretty pleased with the result if it means people really start avoiding Jita because of the suicide bombers :-)

Judging by the mayhem they cause when they don't get insta-ganked at the FFA, I would think as few as five pilots all dropping their load at 4-4 would clear the place out.

Wow i love dev/gm hypocracy or however its spelt. "Suicide ganks on freighters are A-OK!" "Dont suicide gank in jita, youll be GM Pwned!" MAKE UP YOUR MINDS. I really dont care which way they decide, but i care that they do. Geezus since when did the devs become "Make everyone happy!" Blarg its disgusting. So as for doing the deed...good luck dude, hope you get alot of kills. People need to be woken up it seems, to many are playing this game asleep. Oh and ill give you double cool points if a GM is stupid enough (We know they cant make up their minds so who knows whats possible) to get close and you smack him with your SB's. Not like it would do anything to em, but still hahah.
I still remember when i got banned from EQ2. There was a bug on our server where the GM's, when they actually showed themselves for some reason, werent invulnerable. Their magical robes didnt work. I walked up to one and hit him with my most powerful blow, death for him. Got banned for it but it was worth it to kill a GM.
Oh sorry if talking about wtfpwning a GM is upseting to some..

It depends on how many petitions are filed from doing so.. so whatever constitutes putting "a large load on the system", and if it's enough to anger a GM. if you accomplish that, you'll get banned
CCP get your act together, it's like one petition -> ten possible outcomes, and hope that you don't get a mean GM

I belive the difference you are missing, is that a suecide gank of a freighter, is an attack at a speciffic target. Piracy.
Smartbombing a could of ships is destroying anything and anyone. griefing.
I can see the fun in it, but I'd expect a ban. :) iDrone |

i think you people are missing the blindingly obvious and important..

if you do anything the gm's/dev's disagree with enough, you will be banned. sure youll get away with actually doing it, but most likely itll be the last thing you ever do in eve. simple. as. that. push the envelope too far, and youll get burned, and probably whine about it afterwards.
