Looks like the server is up, but there is major lag, and they are shutting gates down all over the eve universe, but no mention of a shutdown yet.

It would really be nice if the there were some sortof news flash on your home page when this sort of thing happens. It's tuff to tell if it's client or server side if you don't properly announce it. Not to mention the fact it looked like you had all the support links locked down.
Shoddy customer service I would say.

It's been wonky for an hour or so. Many many gates shut down throughout the galaxy. Game population slowly diminishing, forums shut down, etc. I was finally booted and haven't been able to log back in.

IMO...this is happening all too often lately and one of (many) reasons I left my last game.
And now I sit here watching my kitchen timer as I try to log in...ticking off each completed mission that I can't go back to loot/salvage. |

Good to know I'm not the only one. Had a bad storm here while I was sleeping, power surge and all, I get on my PC, open eve, login, 'Authenticating......................' ::sigh:: I started downloading the client again thinking somehow the power surge screwed up my eve client (and nothing else  )

Nah... something happened... I was on where everything was getting locked down like the guy above... 10 or so minutes later the client abruptly closed for me aswell as everyone on TS

Same thing happened to my roommate. He tried to start a new skill and the game promptly dumped him.

Paying for 2 accounts and was considering getting a third but I may just forget the whole thing as this game has gotten so unplayable too often.

I agree. CCP should post some sort of bulletin. What the issue is (if known), ETA, etc. This time it seems that it was just a quick reboot, but I know, and many others know that sometimes it can take an hour. I mean, we know you're shutting it down when thousands of players get booted between login attempts, and the players inside know because of all the traffic advisories. So, instead of making us go 'durrr, what happened? how long am I locked out of my life? I don't know what to do! what if I can't get back in for an hour?! YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT KIND OF PROFIT/SKILL LOSS THIS IS?!?! AHHH!' I say just give us a nice little bulletin to supress our 'wtf?!' urges. plzzzzzz :)

Yeah I hit a stargate and suddenly had a 'traffic queue' when entering a non busy system.. Sure I could understand if it was Jita. Then I decided to log off as the count down timer reached zero and did nothing. So I try to logon and nothing, this happened at 00:02 game time.
Not the first.. certainly not the last server problem.. I guess that's a problem with a constantly developing system.

I would still like to know if there's any chance of getting skill training time missed back through petitions?
My skill finished about an hour and a half ago (just when these problems seemed to start happening) and I haven't been able to log in and change it. By now I could have almost 3 level 1 skills trained (as I'm training a bunch of new skills right now). I want that training time back, as I've been sitting here trying to log in for almost an hour and a half now.

The "Players News Center" is technically the only "status" page. Through there is were you get most apologetic letters from CCP concerning server/technical issues. So check there frequently over the next hour or so and something should pop up.

Well that's bull****, why am I paying for time that I can't train? They're gonna get petitions from me one way or another until I get this time back, this ****es me off.
edit - it'd be one thing if it was a planned patch, but we had no warning so how were we to know to switch to a long skill? I try to sign in and change my skill and can't get on, that's bs.

They used to do it without fail, but this was back in 03/04.. lately it appears to be sloppier, maybe they don't want people actually having a record of the number of times the flakey server goes down..

However, this isn't a server patch. This is a server shutdown. It rarely affects myself, but I think it should be petitionable to get skill training time back. To many players, there's no warning that the server is about to crash or get rebooted. It just kind of happens. When there's no warning, it's hard to set a long skill.

Agreed, which is why I am going to petition for my 44 minutes of skill training I would have had done by now. I was going to log in at 8:30 PM Central Time, and couldn't get past the authentication process. That skill would have been finished by now. I'm logging in now and setting a level 5 skill to train as I doubt the server will work properly for the rest of the night now. But I still want that 45 minute skill training time back, it's not a lot but it's time I'm paying for damnit.

Dude, I think you need to close and Reopen your Client and Try it again. You probably installed the Sisi Patch on your Live install

It's silly how people overreact so strongly. I believe this was another one of those cases of "sh!t happens". It was more than likely as much of a surprise to CCP as it was to us. Now about the matter of them not posting any news on the issue, is more than likely because they don't know anymore about what caused the crash than we do. If they posted any statement, it would be just be emphasizing the obvious, and of course futile in calming our distress. I'd rather they'd spend that time investigating and fixing the error, then being community babysitters (which eventually we will be getting regardless, due to all the outcries... or over crying I should say). That's just my honest opinion.
However, all aside, looks like it's back to working order now. YAY!!!

Funny... Not a single problem for me during my entire trial period... Sign up last night for a month of EVE and not even 5 minutes later the server's down. This is one of the inherent problems with having ONE server running that ALL players play on.
Maybe one day, when CCP's done buying VW Hybrids and snake skin belts we'll get a few more servers. Or at least a better one.

It's silly how people overreact so strongly. I believe this was another one of those cases of "sh!t happens".
That's bull man... Think about any other service or utility you pay for... Would it be acceptable to lose power in your home and call up your power company and recieve nothing? Not even a recorded message saying that they know the problem exists and are working to resolve the issue?

I absolutely agree. Gaming is absolutely on the same level as clean running water and power. We need to call in FEMA and the National Guard if this does not get resolved. I've had it up to here, and I'm writing my congressman. |

Now about the matter of them not posting any news on the issue, is more than likely because they don't know anymore about what caused the crash than we do. If they posted any statement, it would be just be emphasizing the obvious, and of course futile in calming our distress. I'd rather they'd spend that time investigating and fixing the error, then being community babysitters (which eventually we will be getting regardless, due to all the outcries... or over crying I should say). I agree some people over react sometimes however its money lost for a service we payed for per day.

How long does this usualy take? It says "experiancing Database issues. working to resolve this issue" so l'm guessing its not the patch that everyone is talking about.

i guess its every one then almost 24 hrs and still cant get in. my ships in the middle of space i experanced lockdown i kept tring to leave the system but it didnt let me so tried docking and it wouldnt warp there.
hopefuly be resolved monday daytime
im just hoping the pirates havent blown me up
