I've read many posts and this I've seen come up time and time again... If someone is losing a fight and they do the so called "Loggin Off" what happens in game can they be killed or not.. what happens to their ship etc??

9 times out of ten they should get wasted - there is a delay b4 the ship disappears. Some people get away with it tho' ---------------------------------------------

They will switch on their sheil boosters etc, and all "defensive" mods, aftert 2 minuites in they vanish, if not in combat they disappear after 1 min.

logoff timer is about 1 minute. Then the ship simply disappears. Now if you got a tanked up battleship with shield hardeners and a shield booster on autorepeat i'd say you got about 30k hitpoints worth of shields(prolly more counting the shield booster). Its not easy to kill that in a minute. So the ship disappears usually deeply damaged into armor and hull.
A second logoff 'problem' is with jump ins. A ship jumps in, sees a blockade and logs off. Since the ship stays invisible up to 1 minute after jumping in and the logoff timer is about one minute you'll get about 5 seconds if you are lucky to lock and kill the ship. With luck you might kill an indy but not often.

SO then what happens, these people just wait until they think the coast is clear and log back in?

will prob use an alt to check space for "pilots in space".
or maybe just fly to system with the alt and check to see if the guys have left.
Its a totally lame tactic, u would lose all ingame respect for it, and no1 would let u forget it.

If someone jumps in and see a blockade while in cloaked mode and log off they will uncloak and then they dont even have the shield booster on so this is not a good idea

Actually they don't seem to appear immediately when logging off. I mean i got all my enemies in adressbook and i can see when they log off. Basically it goes like this. Enemy jumps in. I get this nice red thing next to their name to tell they log off. About 50 seconds later their ship appears for 10 seconds then disappears.
And you tell me it doesn't work? I see this happen like 6 times a day in curse.

Haji is good at logging off to avoid a humiliating defeat.. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

yep, we have run into this 2 times in the last 3 days. An Arma and an Apoc logged after getting locked down. Was rather pathetic to see these mighty, majestic Amarr ships taking such a tactic, but but in their defense they did logoff early enough before the cavalry arrived and managed to disappear with about 25% structure or so.
I guess I understand why the did it, takes so long to get one of these ships they will resort to anything to save it. It still is a pretty candy A$$ed tactic tho. ------------------------------------------------
