About a year ago was the first time when I heard, that one can buy ISK using real money. A 100 mil. was at 14,00 dollars and now it's around 5,50. If it continues to drop that way, then I think they gonna dry out soon ... and hopefully turn away. Because it would solve other problems EVE has, too.

Edited by: Slash Harnet on 10/06/2007 22:16:01 Dare to dream, but I highly doubt it.
I haven't really followed the isk to $ conversion, but I'm sure isk inflation and a weakening dollar are making it appear to be more of a drastic change than it is.

The supply is going up and the demand is going down. This also explains why time code prices are going up. If this trend continues, it will become more profitable for the isk sellers to work other games, and they will. This would be an organic solution to isk sellers. |

Yea, I noticed the price on GTC for Isk is up a good chunk from a few months ago. I know before for a 90 day it was around 330mill, which was the highest I saw it at, and now its up closer to 400mill. Its nice, but still strange. "Return with your shield, or on it." |

Nope, it doesn't work this way. It just means that if someone has $14.00 and is going to spend it on ISK, instead of getting 100 million they will now get 250 million.
It just means the farmers have to farm longer.

That has to do with with question and offer ..
all other isk sale`s are illegal and only the gtc is legal.

Its the same with all online markets. You sell something and the next seller isnt so clever to sell at the same price, no. He undercuts you. Then the next seller does the same and so on and so on. Stupid. But its good to see that online currency sellers are the same type of ppl.

Laws of supply and demand suggest that this is actually a symptom of A Bad Thing.
Prices drop if either supply goes up, or demand goes down. There's no real reason to assume demand has gone down, so all this price drop suggests is that supply have gone up. Translation- there are more gold sellers than ever before, to the extent that they've saturated their own market. The prices will just stabilise (cheaper than ever before), the gold selling will stay, and people will be able to buy their ill gotten goods for even less cash.
Thats all bad to me. I want to see the price of isk sky rocket- the higher it goes, the less people will be able to buy. --------

I've never had a problem with not enough ISK in my wallet. That's why I don't understand that there is any demand to buy game money ... judged by my own experience. I am probably wrong and the world is even more farked as I thought.

I've been playing for nearly 3 years, and it was going on back then. 50 mill isk was going for about ú10 GBP.
I think one of the main contributing factors to the slump in isk/$ rate is that isk is no longer listed on Ebay, so it's not the big earner it used to be for some.

When prices fall it's either because supply has increased or demand has dropped.
EvE has many more subscribers than it did a year ago, and I haven't heard anyone commenting that the new players are more scrupulous in this respect than the old ones. There is no reason to suppose demand has fallen; in fact there is no reason to suppose it has not risen.
The logical conclusion is that it has become easier to ISK farm. The hordes of macro ratters frequently observed in 0.0 support this. Macro ratting is even better than macro farming, for ISK sellers, since it generates ISK directly, doesn't require hauler support or a local station, and is actually safer.
And of course because it generates additional ISK rather than additional material, it is directly harming the EvE economy.

It makes me wonder how many of CCP's player accounts are macro users. I see loads of ships flying about in highsec doing trade runs. Same noob corp, same frigates/fittings, same char type, flying to and fro to the same stations and so on. These are definitely not noobs that are just flying together, they are all performing the same task. In Khafis, there are 22 or more doing this on a regular basis.
I would say that the supply has increased rather than demand dropping. Macro users have found newer ways to make isk and are exploiting the system to the max.

When it reaches $2, I will buy it. They can ban me from the game, because at that point, it will be irrelevant.
