I'm a noob, but I believe this is part of the original purpose of the Titan. Making otherwise long journeys shorter and saving ISKies in the process. :D Logistics and all that mumbo jumbo.

I personally dont think capitals should be allowed to be jumped by the titan (yes a freighter is a capital), reguardless of who does it.

Yeah, cynoing between pos bubbles skipping through lowsec whenever possible sure is the risky.

You do realize a 10/10 complex yields upwards of 500mil isk a day a run and can be run twice a day? Upwards of 1 bil in profits with an investment less than that and can even be done solo with 1-2 accounts in a couple hours a run? With nearly no risk whatsoever as long as the complex isn't on the front lines.
This exactly relates how to an investment of:
- 130bil + (70bil goods investment, 7 bil freighters, 50bil titan component mineral requirements and then I'm actually leaving out the actual worth of a titan - labor, time - which would reflect in a 100bil+ titan pricetag on the market) - 30 manhours - 20 cyno characters - considerably risks in rev 2.0
Good for a mere 2 bil profit a day.
So we're looking at:
2 characters vs 30 characters, or: 2 accounts vs 20 accounts 4 manhours vs 4.3 hours a day. low risk vs low risk (the latter being seriously nerfed in rev 2.0) 1 bil vs 130+ bil investment.
Resulting in:
1000+ mil vs 2000 mil profit a day.
I'm sure if you look at things from an objective point of view, if any of the two is abusing game mechanics here, it would be the complex farmers exploiting downtime for it's respawn, or at least used to till a little while ago.
And one more note to those saying the mechanics are being abused: A titan isn't supposed to be a solopwnmachine, instead it's a logistical juggernaut. That's what it's being used for right here. Also, there's a fixed amount of NPC demand and supply (expressed in a fixed quantity / 24 hours for playability reasons). Once the amount is met and exceeded by supply and demand respectively, prices drop or climb respectively. This is how it's supposed to work and it has always worked like this in 0.0, unlike empire trade routes which always reset after downtime, no matter the traded volumes. This was finally fixed about a year ago.
With the amount of ISK and manpower spent here, I'm sure we - or anyone with a sense for the game for that matter - could come up with even better ways to make money in a less obvious way.
Cause that's what this is really about here. Most of the posters here and other threads are merely concerned that it's BoB who's doing it and not them. And when there's something you can't beat ingame (due to lack of determination, organisation, titan and most likely the skillpoints to fly it), the forums remain.

You know, I oftentimes see merit in the BoB complaints - there's usually something to it. But NPC trading is done by thousands of players on a smaller scale, constantly, every day.
Don't get me wrong, I write, sing, play, and record Eve Parodies that - as often as not - poke fun at BoB.
But this....this just seems a bit out of hand. There's a dearth of tools available online for people to plot the most profitable trade routes, but there's a gripe here because BoB is NPC trading?
You should be ashamed of yourselves...

I'm not a bob fan, nor do I like BOB but I think you are so damn right!
The jump bridge module uses a lot of fuel in and of its own. add to that the mass of 3 freighters and that thing is sucking up fuel like a tornado sucks up tumbleweed. The jumpbridge module also has a very limited range compared to jump drive modules.
Add to that the risk they take of losing they're titan/freighters by an enemy force (if not by CTD). Soon in Kali 2, this is going to be a lot more dangerious.
Lots of cash is spend here in order to gain lots of cash. therefore I agree with Aeon Yakati that if you spend (30B + 4B + (fuelcost) + (Trading goods) your risking a HUGE sum of ISK to try this with a relative minimal gain.
So I guess they'll be risking between 50-70 billion for each trade run, now that gives 2.2 billion income per run. I'd say the profits here are in line with that of running a pos, where the profit is only a small margin of the isk spend in getting it going. And the risk of losing it to a bad decision, running out of fuel or being attacked, ext.) are sertainly there.
And be honest here, its sertainly a lot fairer than a 2 man gang collecting up 2 billion in a complex per day.
------------------
(spending between 50-70 billion (low estamite)) to gain a 2 billion Income Per Day (in roughtly 1.5 hours)
compared to
2 man gang gaining 2 billion per day by taking down a lvl 10 complex while having to spend nearly NO ISK to do it while the amount of ISK your risking is a lot lower. (in roughly 3-5 hours)

No, its because of the scale of it, and because there is little to no risk involved.

I was in a dozen plus MC freighter op with Shrike and his Avatar once. Using the JPG to make a multi-hour long freighter refueling op into half-an-hour max instantly jumps to mind when this device because usable.
But you're right. It's only BOB doing this (as you've only seen BOB doing it), which means they're exploiting a game bug.
I think it is perfectly clear that BoB doing something makes it bad.
Nobody complained when AAA POS bowled and stole BoB carriers.
But then everyone whined when BoB POS bowled in response. Result? No more POS bowling.
Same thing here, probably.
Considering that freighters have been jump portalled as a matter of routine by every titan-owning alliance in EVE history, I don't think its an "exploit."
I am sorry but I have to say this with all the high-sec freighter ganking threads. I believe it should go like this.....
Where is the risk versus reward in that
 It should be Nerfed
Why? They are properly escorting the freighters (and I would say that a Titan is some escort), so they are doing what the gankers have suggeste all around as a solution.
Really the gist of this posts seem to be: "I don't have a titan, so i cant use this tactic, nerf it".
Well, I don't have a titan but it is a very logic system to manage logistics.
The only thing that maybe need to be fixed is the buying/selling by the NPC.

NPC trade goods are a relic from before Eve was populated enough to support large scale trading just between players.
They should be removed, all of them. Until such time that there becomes a use for them to players, and then they should become producable too. __________ If you think the game is rigged, why are you still playing? |

Also, to add to this plexrunning brings only very little "new" isk into the system. The overviewers effects are only a small part of the rewards.
Now, freighter "jumportalling" trade runs are a pure isk print machine. One single op adds 2 bil isk into the system every day. Inflation is a rather noticeable problem in eve these times and CCP are hard pressed with creating new isk sinks.
This doesn't really helps. It's certainly no exploit and I personally do not care if bob, AAA or chribba are doing it. The isk/hour and risk factor is pretty much broken for that parcticular use (yes, even with rev 2.0 - the risk for a titan to get caught is next to zero if he has half a brain). It needs fixing.

Was the thread created by Snigg not enough for you? Do you have to come whine here as well?
Why would it be an exploit to fly freighters through the jump bridge? Surely when the description of the jump bridge was first released all 0.0 alliances thought "Thank god, a way to avoid those long boring freighter runs"?
My software never has bugs. It just develops random features.

When I have a Titan, I'll be doing this too ^.^
Just give me about 4 years.....
Maybe by then we'll have a few more regions opened up with additional lucrative trade runs. Then we can do a sort of "Capture the Flag" with Titans jumpgating freighters into hostile bases to deliver the goods. Can you imagine epic battles being fought over static trade routes? Especially if each crossed from North to South or East to West. Used to be trade routes were always fought over historically, and this might just trigger more of the same in Eve.
My feeling is, if you are upset with someone doing this, make it impossible for them to do so by camping the systems. Maybe give 'em a reason to bring a fleet with them. Try to take away their investment in equipment.
