REVELATIONS II, the second part of three free REVELATIONS expansion for EVE Online will be deployed on Tuesday 19 June, starting at 0200 GMT. This deployment is scheduled to last approximately 24 hours, with an estimated return to service at 0200 GMT on Wednesday 20 June. Tranquility will also undergo its normal daily maintenance period at 1100 GMT on the 20th.
REVELATIONS features many improvements, new features, content and a wealth of optimizations and fixes to both Tranquility and the EVE game client. Detailed Patch Notes are available for review. The REVELATIONS II features page will be available shortly.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and encourage training of a skill with a long training time.
Please keep in mind the EVE forums will be offline for the duration of the expansion deployment due to the need to keep from adding new information to the database.

Way down in the Miscellaneous section: Asteroid distribution in the eight new regions also known as the rogue drone regions has been redone, rare end asteroid types such as arkonor should be much larger than before.
Some love there and please keep in mind there will be further additions made over the weekend as other items clear the QA process.

I assume that this is just mentioned as the standard case in the patch-notes and that EVE actually uses the path that is set in the system environment without any trouble.
The EVE client reads the CSIDL values from Windows so assuming you have redirected your folders in a standard manner then Windows will report that location correctly back.

First of all, stupid change. 2nd, WTF?! That is totaly unnecessary.
This modification is a necessary compatibility change for Windows 2000, XP and Vista, to better comply with Microsoft recommended best practises for data file locations (which are now enforced on Windows Vista).

I'll fix the jump bridge distance entry at the same time I add another ~20 entries. The new entries will be in green text in the patch notes and added to the original post as an edit.

Has anything been done to ensure that data from the test server doesn't overwrite data from the real server?
If you are running multiple clients then please follow the advice in the patch notes and use the "/end /LUA:OFF" switches. Note that then you need to run the EVE client with administrative privileges. There is also interesting advice here on how to maintain a setup for multiple accounts and multiple servers.

These are wrong, purly because the user name does not always match the profile path of that user.
The patch notes use the default/normal values for demonstration purposes only. We actually use the appropriate CSIDL values that the EVE client reads from Windows.

Has the timer started already or does it start the day of the patch?
It starts at the day of the patch. Wouldn't be very nice of us to start a timer behind the scenes and not tell anyone about it. Some alliances might gain more than others from sheer coincidence, some tinfoil-hattery might ensue.

Marie Slick: All currently claimed systems start off as Sovereignty 1. Then if they are held for 14 consecutive days they will upgrade to Sovereignty 2 and then it goes according to the listed formula above.

Personally I find these "work arounds" unacceptable. Specially since I can't use them as I use EVE Launcher. And no switching to EVEMon's window moving or similar is not an option as it does not support placing different copies of the client on different screens.
Please ask the author of EVE Launcher to enhance it. It should be a trivial change to add support for the "/end /LUA:OFF" switches in EVE Launcher.

Tundaar,
Structures gain their resistance from the control tower, the intention is that you only incapacitate the structure in the raid/support role, if you want to go all the way, you kill the control tower as normal, the structures will lose their resistance bonus once the control tower has been destroyed.

Originally by: Sasakisan In any case, Devs, have you planned for the exploits associated with shared rewards for grinding in groups? These usually involve high levels power-leveling lower levels by grouping with them and running missions. The low levels stay out of the fight and still receive mission rewards.
This is considered gameplay functionality, not an exploit
Originally by: Sasakisan Speaking of instanced content, it looks like we are getting our first truly instanced content in EVE in this patch:
Quote: Players start in their own protected dungeon out of harmĘs way Tutorial dungeon can be accessed again within 30 days of account creation. The dungeon can only be started in rookie systems
There are a lot of casual players who love instanced content, such as dungeons and battlegrounds. I'm guessing that a lot of new players will request more instances.
These requests and suggestions tend to start discussions about risk vs reward. Industrial toons that never undock from the station and specialize in market trading make tons of isks and are exposed to zero PVP combat risk and don't seem to ruin the game. Having made this point, I am sure that CCP designers could figure out how to put in even more instanced content, to keep the casual people happy, without ruining the game.
These are not really "true" instances, and even if they were, this wouldn't signify a general shift in attitude towards instances

FYI -
The wallet export on MyEVE functionality is not being pushed until two days after Revelations II. That means this is scheduled for Thursday the 21st.
This gives us a day between the two so we can be certain that any problems with either are identified quickly and without confusion about what's causing what.
(I'll see about getting this information placed more prominently, but as the decision was just made, I wanted to get it out here...)

Arr, f**k it! I just hate that stupid game design when one single game installed in one single folder sprawls all over folder tree. Just what the f**k - game is there, saves here, settings someplace else... did noone see how stupid and disgusting it is? When I said to installer "Well OK, I want to have it at C:/Games/EVE", for example, it means that I want whole game, including each and every relevant file to be located in that damn C:/Games/EVE! Why did a program permits itself to deliberately occupy folders I didn't allowed it to? What about just keeping stuff in C:/EVE/capture, C:/EVE/logs etc? Isn't it logical and obvious enough?
This modification is a necessary compatibility change for Windows 2000, XP and Vista, to better comply with Microsoft recommended best practises for data file locations.
Microsoft wants all writeable data to be stored in the Application Data folders on Windows and has begun enforcing that in Windows Vista. We want the EVE client to behave in the same manner on all Windows platforms so we made a uniform change.

You can add the "/end /LUA:OFF" switches to your shortcut(s) and then you don't have to change anything in your setup. The "cache" folder(s) will then stay in the program directory/ies but the "capture" folder(s) will move to MyDocs. Alternatively you can read this thread for some interesting setup for multiple accounts / multiple servers.

Originally by: Windle Poons I want to keep all my chat logs etc seperate to each character/account and don't want them all mixed up.
This thread might provide the setup you need for multiple accounts / multiple servers.
Originally by: Windle Poons Oh, and you shouldn't move people files without asking. I'd also suggest that my docs is a crappy place for logs seeing as it is often redirected to a network share. Local settings is also a crappy place for the cache as its not copied with roaming profiles.
Thanks for the comments.
We have to move the files to maintain compatibility with Windows Vista, there isn't much choice. Sorry.
We think MyDocs is an ideal place for those logs since that's the place users would store pictures and screenshots anyway and storing chatlogs and marketlogs there as well seems quite natural. This is not going to generate heavy network traffic. We are using "Local Settings\Application Data" exactly because that's where non-roaming data should be stored.
Thanks to all of you for all the feedback during the development of Revelations II. We start the deployment in 15 hours. We hope you enjoy it!

Originally by: Malachon Draco Only question I have is, will I still be able to run multiple accounts off one installation of Eve without changing anything?
You will be able to run multiple accounts without any modifications, since the client automatically handles multiple accounts and multiple characters. If you look in the folder "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache\Settings" you will see the current settings files.
The only conflict players might have is when running multiple different clients against multiple servers, i.e., one client against Tranquility, another client against Singularity and the third client against Multiplicity (all different client versions). That's when you need to use the "/end /LUA:OFF" switches, or perhaps examine the advice in this thread, to prevent the different clients from conflicting with each other.
We start deployment in 7 hours. Enjoy!
