Heck, even with perfect build skills and almost perfectly researched blueprint, selling close to or UNDER mineral value is equally stupid, if not more.
P.S. Well, if you're not trying to eliminate a competitor from a certain market, that is. That's actually a good idea. But I digress.
Meh, just be happy people do sell things at under value.
1: See loot being sold for less than the value of it's recycled minerals. 2: Buy. 3: Recycle. 4: ????? 6: Profit! --------

Originally by: Banana Torres Its market PvP aint it. If I use the minerals I get from whoring level 4s to put my battlecruisers on the market at 2% above the highest buy order price in the region then thats my choice.
Which, btw, is what I am doing. And using the rewards from the missions to keep my POS running so that I don't even have to pay the research and building costs. And even betterer the agents I am running are from R&D corps so now I have access to loverly mechanical engineering R&D agents. So my invention jobs cost me nuthin now too.
Wouldn't you rather I was still a Privateer, providing you with customers, rather than me ****ting on your lawn ruining your profit margin?
So you're the one selling all the cheap ships?
Privateer nerf was better than I ever dreamed! --------

I hate to break it to you, but if you think selling things for cheap is causing anyone any grief, you're probably mistaken. Half of them probably just buy it and resell at an instant profit. And all those "risk-free mission runners and / or traders" that Privateers took such joy in kaploding are just enjoying cheap equipment to use or trade --------

I don't care if they're costing themselves money or not, but these people are the reason I switched from multiple-region equipment manufacturing to battleships in a hub station.
all it takes is one idiot to set an order too low, and then you have to cancel your order and sit on the items until they undercut below the reprocessing threshold, or spend hours hauling all your crap around hoping to find a place where you can get a couple days of sales before the undercutters come.
Or you just buy that one guy's cheap order and resell it at the market average? Thats free money, surely. --------

undervalue selling isn't nearly as much of a problem in loot sales as it is with T1 production. loot sellers aren't churning out dozens of the same item per day, and they generally aren't obsessive about babysitting their orders and undercutting everyone else like the small T1 builders.
if you put a decent loot item up at a low price, some guy will be like "damn that's a great deal" and buy it right away. but if you put a pile of built T1 modules up at a low price, five guys will be like "damn he undercut me I CANNOT ALLOW THIS" and the market goes to hell until some producers leave and demand exceeds supply, or someone with a lot of money gets sick of it and buys everything to reset the price.
Bearing in mind just how many people farm missions, whos to say its not a major cause? All modules an ammo are got through missions- if enough CNR-flying mission *****s sell their loot undervalue, thats a market crasher.
And yet none of them are stupid- they're all doing like I did, and maximising their isk an hour through underselling... --------
