Last time this happened was back in November 2004, and I think it's time we did it again.
We all jumped onto the test server and (tried) to have a massive fleet fight in a system and then grid.
As you might expect, the little test server crashed, but CCP gained valuable information about the server and client behavior.
So I propose we do it again on Sunday @ 19:00 EVE time, and check out what the latest patch can deliver.
(As long as the devs approve of course) |

Edited by: Patch86 on 15/06/2007 23:32:42 They do these all the time. Sharkbait organises them usually, doesn't he? "Stress Tests" is what they call them.
Wasn't there one towards the end of 2006? I'm sure there was- I remember shooting the crap out of Sharkbait's Jove "Eidolon".
EDIT: Example. --------

Well, there was about 500 in the stress test I was at, and that one you linked only had 300. So yeah --------

Fair enough, but don't forget the number of active players that were even online back then. If we can get the general public to make a copy of their client and test patch it like we did back then in 2004, I'm pretty sure that we could flatten the server in seconds and provide as many tons of hopefully useful information for the Devs
If you think that it's a bad idea that getting tons of people involved in a test that SharkBait hasn't arranged, then fair enough. -- Jaabaa - CEO - Dental Drilling Corporation |

i prefer turning empire to .0 events but yea..
how would spamming a system with NPCs then gathering a PC fleet to destroy them work? maybe thats not a good way to stress the code..? but there would be alot of stuff happening, gazillions of NPCs and a couple of hundred players works as a great stress test in my mind atleast.. maybe sharkbait needs to be the target again.. something fun will always bring players, but they might need some time to manage things before they can do a stress test now on sunday, they might be to swamped to be able to..
