The myrmidon is the worst battlecruiser by far. Aside from having tanking problems, the firepower, even with t2 drones, leaves much to be desired. Definitely stick to drakes.

The myrmidon is an excellent ratter. Fit the drones of your choice. I like berserkers because they're fast, but you can pick rat specific drones if you want.
The fitting I like to use for ratting is this:
6x 200mm rail II w/antimatter or spike
10mn mwd (if antimatter) or afterburner (if spike)
4x large shield extenders
2x shield power relay
4x pds

There are a hundred ways to passive tank a myrm. You can swap mods in and out, and the fact remains that it is a generally powerful ship, but I disagree with downsizing the guns.
The reason I disagree, without putting in a ton of numbers and calculations, is because the tank I described is enough, and more dps means more isk/hour.

Tsk tsk... such closed mindedness. It works splendidly for ratting. I wouldn't pvp in it, but that's not what he asked for.
