I can understand this. As an ex-NFC & Sparta member though, I cannot help but remember how close to destruction they were at the whim of their neighbours. I didn't intend to "dig" at Sparta for their standings reset - quite the opposite; you have been pragmatic, and whilst many may not like you for this I applaud you. Hell, in many ways I'd quite like to (re)join you!
Quote: Sparta has the energy and atmosphere of a fresh, young, alliance regardless of how long the name has been around. To continue to liken it to the "old" Sparta is misinformed at best. I think a lot of people would benefit from taking their heads out of the history books for a moment and thinking about the present and the future rather than what "might have been" or what "should have been".
That was not my intention. The map however shows that the Sparta Alliance have made territorial gains as a result of the Mercenary Coalition contract in the north, and I was merely bringing this into the thread. The last time Sparta saw gains like these was after the GNW, when the "old" command structure re-established control over the alliance following the merging into Sparta of NFC.
So I see where you're coming from, but bizarrely it was the new Sparta that nearly saw it destroyed, and the old Sparta that brought it back from the brink.
At least that's what it appears like from the perspective of someone who last set foot in Deklein during the GNW.
Well, I think I see what you mean. This is the reason so many people hate BoB. Its the sure knowledge that if BoB decided to kill them, there is absolutely nothing they could do to stop it. This leaves people with the choice of accepting the new reality and making the best of it, or going down in a blaze of soon-to-be-forgotten glory. Choosing to live and fight another day may not be as exciting for the popcorn gallery, but then they weren't the ones faced with the choice.
Perhaps its easier for me, being a newish player (1 year). I'm not all emo about old friends, hated enemies, home ground, or past betrayals. I'm just looking at the current situation and deciding to make the best of it. I think Sparta is doing the same: Looking at reality, and living with the world as it is, not as we'd like it to be. Thats all anyone can do until they acquire the power to change the world.
People don't hate bob because they can destroy you they hate them by their attitude. The people that don't figth BoB are just loosing PVP experience ,and are deluding themselves if they think they aren't going to destroy them after they are done.
Has for the Sparta alliance ,when i read that they were "retreating" from the war made me sad because people now donŠt stand for anything, they just want to win and have space, mhee.
