My mom plays EVE mmmmmmmmm, interesting. So in your eyes the insulting of my mother is righetous however. That is trully odd, seeing that your pointing out the fact that your so intelligent. That makes your ratio 1:1 on the pointless scale.

This thread is tantamount to those people who say (in essence) "Your religion is wrong because my religion is right." It's amazing when you think about at all the wars that have been fought by that badly flawed rationale. You are falling into the ol' "I'm playing Eve the correct way!" trap. No, man - you're playing the game the way you want to play it, just like I play the game the way I want to play it and Tiller plays the way he wants to play. Enjoyment is completely different for each person. Furthermore, it's dynamic. For instance, I don't really personally like piracy all that much anymore. What's to say that you won't have a change of heart after some time and decide to try piracy? You'll look back on this thread and feel pretty stupid tbh. --

I disagree with the OP.
Theres smart pirates which captures not smart carebears. Then theres smart carebears which are smart enough to avoid getting ganked by dumb pierates. Then theres smart pirates which might catch a smart carebear.
This all boils down to that you do what you're best at....Tiller and co. are good at capturing reckless carebears or autopiloters.

Edited by: Presidente Gallente on 19/06/2007 14:53:51 Carebearing is not playing smart. You don't care about PvP because of your fear to loose always and too many ships in PvP when you are still low-skilled. So you think that one ship loss only is a definition of beeing smart? :-D
Don't take me wrong ... I did mission running = carebearing for a long time till I felt experienced, smart [!] and powerful enough to visit low-sec. Today I fly through low-sec like in high-sec. 0.0 needs a bit more attention.
I lost some BC in mishs due my personal challenge to deal with l4's in a BC solo. I lost some ships in PvP and to a gate camp. Each loss helped me to learn how to be prepared next time. I did some hours bootcamp combat training on SISI to get a feeling for different and +perfect½ setups for PvP.
Carebearing is the easy task in high-sec. The ones who never do PvP have different reasons for it. Accepted. No problem. I will not say carebearing is bad but PvP needs much more than this. So I have to disagree to your original post.
A long time carebear is someone who's employed in a save position. I would not call those pilots noobs because they have their own level of experience. A PvPer is someone doing his own business with all risks at all costs at the end.
I had faced Ginger in a Drake short before he was banned solo in my Myrmidon. I locked him at 10km but I was thinking too much to engage him or not. So +the best PvPer in EVE½ warped out. PvPing needs sometimes nerves out of steel because replacing a Myrmidon is limited and I am forced to go back to carebearing. I know some damn good solo PvPer who do crazy things like tanking a Nyx at a gate for fun. Those guys are far beyond carebears because they take the risk every time to lose something or get podded.
Carebears learn fast how to deal with NPC's AI ... every mish has some kind of walkthrough mechanism at the end. In PvP you are faced to more complex situations with real brains behind it. So you never know how it ends.
From my own experience a typical carebear is just too much chicken-hearted to engage solo or cross the empire border while a real PvPer fought his fear a long time ago and has a heart out of steel. :-D

So if I follow you then, you don't like being called a carebear, a problem to which your solution was to troll the forums asserting your intellectual superiority over pvpers, stating you should be adressed as "sir" or "boss?" You don't like the immature name calling so you proclaim loudly in your first post, and following posts, that you're smarter than thousands of people you've never had any interaction with, let alone know a damned thing about? Right.

Carebear = Someone who whines when they lose a ship. They "care" to much about their virtual possessions, and get angry when someone takes them from them. They play the game more like stamp collectors trying to amass isk and stuff so they can look at it in a hangar and don't want to have it put at risk through non-consensual PvP.
It doesn't matter if they are a PvPer, Miner, mission runner, trader or pirate. The term gets confused with industrial player or PvEer to an extent because most carebears come from those areas. However, there are plenty of "carebears" that call themselves PvPer/pirates.

Exactly. I have seen plenty of pirates and other people that would refer to themselves as pvp'ers, having several of the characteristica of a carebear.
And I have seen plenty of miners, producers and traders having balls of steel and work with high risk/big reward scenarios.
Carebears are the ones that will work the low risk scenario and moan even when that risk manifests itself. The moaning being the defining part. Their wet dream is the game where there is no opposition or loss, but only aquisition.
