Titans can not jump for the next 10 minutes after firing a doomsday device.
Just saw that in the patch notes. Along with the fact that they can't fire them remotely. Personally I've never seen a titan myself but I kinda like this idea due to the weapon being as powerful as alot of you have stated.

I know if I was a Titan owner, I'd simply stop using the DD, period. Taking out the remote ability was fine; not being able to jump out is a bit much considering how expensive those things are.

Or you could instead actually put some *effort* in assembling a gang *beyond* the compulsory Cyno Alt.

I thought about the idea of having a long recharge time set on the DD weapon although they may have one already idk. 10 minutes however is quite a time limit no matter what online game you play. I'm thinking the idea behind this however is to probably make the titan user think about their actions before (s)he just fires away.

If you've got a big enough gang in the first place, chances are you don't need the DD

Uhmmmm sure. Now check the cases when titans were used. Mostly to make the "we have bigger gang than you" difference even bigger.

You are talking about the time when there was no risk when using the DD. Now, if you've got a big enough gang, why risk a 60B asset? And if you don't have a big enough gang, are you really going to take the chance of missing with the DD and getting pwned when the bigger gang warps back in?

Titans can't jump, but they can still warp. All the titan pilot needs to do is constantly warp from one ss to another, since titans are immune to warp jammers and disruptors, and warp bubbles and interdictor probes will be dead if they were near the titan when the titan fired the doomsday, and if deployed afterwards, won't catch the titan unless he lags out since they don't stop warps already in progress.

This is about the only time I see it being a problem for the titan pilot. You send in the sacrificial lambs first to be hit by the DD then come in with the wolfpack to finish off the beast kind of thing going on. There may be other methods in the big battles but I'm supernewb too all that yet.

DD is supposed to be a final wild card in battle. Like maybe even 'finisher' explosion to kill remains of enemy fleet.
Titans and Moms imo got a well deserved fix, they are 'organization' ships. Its not like a single owner now has fun of DDDing completly random fights or hopping in and out like a bunny.
10 mins timer, its only to jump, ofc you can warp, and ofc you can cloak. But now to fire DDD you need at least some support and at least a good position.. ---

Tbh the Rev 2 changes dont go far enough, all that will happen is that the usual "jump in, fire DDD, jump out" tactic will be replaced with the "jump in, DDD, warp to safespot and cloak for 10min, jump out" tactic.
Since the DDD takes out all dictors and dictor bubbles on grid all you have to do is hit warp right after the DDD fires and be as invulnerable as before the "nerf".
Maybe the hopefully coming nerf of cloaks on non specialised ships like making them findable with scan probes will help to balance the tactic described above out a bit but as things stand now titans wont be killable once again unless heavy lag, ctd or gross incompetence is involved and even then you need a good portion of luck.
Imho a DDD activation should render the titan unable to move at all for 10mins much like siege or triage mode. That way people have to weight risk and reward every time before they use the DDD and *gosh* even bring a proper support fleet to remote repair the titan while it is vulnerable. This way even more interesting battles would ensue around the titan, nothing wrong with that is it?

Fixed that for you, and that is the important difference, you accualy have to be on the same grid to fire it off, and tbh, when you see that beast comeing, i sure think your FC will call a warp-out (i know they do) and thus adding the time for the DDD to acticvate, and the time for the titan to get rid of lagg, most part of your fleet is out(luckely)
No promises made, its till a fearsome weapon, but it can be avoided if you ae alert of things happeing on the battlefield.
Also, the point of just going to a SS and cloak, well better that than they can just jump out right away at their warm, fuzzy POS-forcefield :P atleast a small margin to catch it. -----------------------------

Its balanced in theory -
You should see the tanking data on those things. With the lag from the DD, your lag buffer should be enough to let you escape into warp.
Its the same theory as the 150 cruise launcher POS.
No but really, they tank well.

Huge lag when a DD fires, all the ships going to pods.
Also, longest align time ever, easy enough to bump. ----

Edited by: Elite Marksman on 20/06/2007 00:00:01 Please read... the only things capable of stopping a titan from warping will not stop it once you hit the warp button. Bubbles and dictor bubbles will not stop any ship, including a titan, from warping so long as the the word "warping" appears in your speed control area.
Don't believe me? Go try it. Grab a hauler, fill it with as many reinforced bulkheads as you can, drop a bubble and anchor it. Just before it's anchored, warp to something and see if you still warp off even after the bubble is deployed.
Because of this, the titan is still very, very difficult to kill as it will be neigh impossible to stop it from warping off after it fires the DDD, and once it warps off, it will be very difficult to stop it from warping again, unless the pilot is stupid or lags out.
As for the bumping. Look at the mass of a titan. How much do you think your ship is gonna move it?
