Its a little overboard when enemy BS's are tanking over half your DPS before your missiles even land.

Maybe switch to guns then...
If you use the wrong tools against your enemies you can hardly complain. Or do you next want to complain that for example your thermal missiles don't do any damage because the enemy has thermal hardeners and very high resistances?

I could just be dense (I am, but I digress) but isn't the efficacy determined by the launcher into which they are fitted? IE, stick it in a torp launcher and it'll down torps but be useless against light missiles

Maybe try to shoot from close range instead of sitting 150km away. I fly a Nightmare, my 4 missiles don't get a velocity bonus and I rarely loose more than 1 missile of a volley.

Well, if missions are getting difficult for Caldari, du to Defenders, you really only have one solution. Rokh it.

Think of it as adaptive learning. The NPCs were so fed up of getting slaughtered by 1000's of CNRs every day, they've finally changed their set ups to counter it

Last thing I thought I'd ever see was a whine about Ravens not doing missions fast enough.
You get a 10% bonus to cruise missile and torp speed per level. If you're anywhere near your target at all, cruise missiles are going to hit in a matter of seconds, and torps will take 2 defenders to destroy. If that doesn't work? Well bugger all, try using a ship you actually have to think about while flying for a change.

I'd have to agree with the people saying this is nothing but whining, except also suggest that defender missiles ought to work this well for player ships too. It's been the biggest joke of a fitting for a long time now; even the civilian mods are more useful in their own way.

Yeah, it would be nice if player defenders were as good at npc defenders.
However, using torps cancel any problem you have with npc defenders. Takes 2 hits to kill a torp and most of the time your full torp volley reaches its target. Not as fast and flashy as cruise missiles but a heck of a lot more effective for PvE.
Save cruise missiles for PvP.

You need to be close-> as the other guy, above me, suggested.
If you are 100k away, sure as hell NPCs will pop most of your missiles.
If you are that far away Rokh works great for missions, pops frigates in Single Volley
And NPC battleships are not match for it either.
If you still want the missiles then you can get a Cerberus, eats through L4s like butter, Nighthawk, or Drake is still viable for L4's.
