Auction-related question/observation here...
This WTS order may suffer from a slight defect due to game mechanics. Namely, that you cannot own an outpost.
You can own control towers that grant you sovereignty over an outpost, but the outpost itself is a "fish" that is controlled by whomever has the towers. So in the spirit of pragmatism I ask--not being an ******* here--shouldn't this be a contract for the control towers instead, with the appropriate details worked out?
Another difficulty stemming from the fact that you cannot own an outpost is that you can't move one. This isn't like a WTS for a multi-billion ISK faction BS or even a MS; you can't simply cyno out or log off if need be. If someone were to plunk down the ISK for the outpost they would become a target. Any alliance with PvP strength in the area would be keenly aware that the military strength holding P-2 currently is about to move out in favor of a weaker one that has to buy (not conquer) its outposts. Seems like a pretty good way to get a cheap outpost: wait for a weak alliance to buy MC away, and when MC is gone, swoop in.
So my second suggestion would be to have included in this WTS order an option to bid for contract terms. MC did mercenary work in its past, so it's an ideal opportunity for the buyer to bid, say, a 100 mill a week indefinite contract for an MC bail-out if the system comes under heavy assault. (The contract alone would probably be enough of a deterrent.)
It goes without saying that if MC is not interested in the mercenary work and just wants out of the space, forget it. But on the other hand, you could easily double or triple the value of the WTS if the buyer had some kind of certainty that he wasn't just putting down billions so someone else could grab the system.

So only 5.2 billion a year to be on call to guard an outpost? WOW! Attention all shoppers! Blue-light special on elite mercenaries in aisle four!

We are not BoB and this is not part of some pet program. It's a simple transaction. Any potential buyer takes the same risks as any other 0.0 entity.
Regardless of whatever problems someone might face, this sale allows for an alliance to get a foothold in 0.0 for a bargain price and open new doors of possibility.
Current high bid is 9.5 billion. -

MC would not even fire up the engines on their cap fleet for 100m a week let alone fly across the universe to bail someone out. |

Does the protection term provide global coverage?
What if bob attacks the station? Will you break your nap for it? Given it's location this is more than probable if the buyer decides to resist the bob advance.
What if you are busy in another contract?
What if you someone requests a contract vs that very station? Is the rejection guaranteed?

This is a sort of an investment. You get a ready made outpost at a reduced cost, without going through all the hassle of the logistics to build it, and without the risk of a disrupted egg deployment.
Whether you buy it or build it, the one thing that will remain the same is that you will have to defend it.
Ownership of 0.0 space is out of the scope of my corporation, so consider it a free bump.

Edit: just for clarification - not Jita, and placed under the control of an NPC corp of my choice. Don't want to break any game mechanics in highsec.

"WTS sovereignity of a system with an outpost", then? Doesn't quite have the same ring to it.
As to your point, the alliance buying the OP need not be weaker than would be required to build their own. If an alliance wanted an outpost, but wanted to save isk, this would be the way to do it. This auction's buyout, even, is well under build cost for an egg + filler, let alone the cost of the logistics to move it all in. Will it become a target? Of course. But so is any other alliance with an outpost. The fact that they bought the OP under build cost doesn't make them any more of one--it just means they have another 10b to spend on dreadnoughts and fleet ships to defend it as opposed to the guy who built his own.

In light of the somewhat, derailing posts - that do shed some light on the fact that this deal does not work alone without some kind of security guarantee and that this much ISK insecured is infact not the greatest idea.
Therefore, i retract both my 9 and 9.5 bids prior. Maybe i will re-instate my interest if security or so is better outlined.
Thankyou,
Rapace

Hum somebody is trying to offload property acquired by adverse possession and having problems as the purchasers are requesting warranty of title. Talk about art imitating life...
