Fanfest? I am avoiding huge accumulation of nerds like conventions, LAN-parties etc. for the following reason: I don't want to be treated like an alien creature or and the comments in this thread confirm my desicion. (LAN-Parties are even worse because men tend to forget washing themselves on theese events and the smell is disgusting)
However, Eris' idea is nice, and contacting the women gamers of eve - channel (wgoe) would be a good idea.

With this new time share, my wife and I will probably go to one of the fanfests in the future (not this year though). You guys are kinda rough around the edges though, might have keep the wife concealed or tie a rope around my waist and hers as to not loose her.

Part of the problem with some of these gamer events is just location or timing. Women do go to them where I live. So maybe also society of where it is held has something to do with it as well.

As for length of gaming stuff. I forget how old I was when pong, merlin, et al came out. I played cartridge games on my vic20, did programming and gaming on Apple 2e's, had the original nintendo when it first came out, etc. So I've been a gamer a pretty long time. My son even wants me to play the MMORPGs he does but we each have our own tastes and I like the ones I'm in and don't need more to play.

Hard to say but I'd like to think people behave a little better in person. Some of it though is the anonymity of the net and they let the jerk out. And I think the replies are tongue in cheek here You shouldn't take these things too personally and treat everything in a grave,serious manner.
Previous fanfests were a lot of fun for everyone attending,(you don't have to put your wife on a leash at all)
This year it's simply going to be even better for the women attending. That's all.

After 4 years though of enduring unrelenting "tongue in cheek" or "locker room" speach (which is what it is usually called to defend it) I would hope that _some_ of the guys who play this game would understand that it is a MAJOR detractor to having a healthy female playerbase. Frankly I don't think this fact of EvE is ever going to change, but you have to understand that there are some female players who come here to just play the game, to enjoy it like everyone else.
It's not about the even words usually, it's about the mentality of many of the players ingame which is very unhealthy to having a co-ed universe. However, A good number of the comments I have endured over the years would have ended RL jobs because of sexual harassment and this kind of speach really shouldn't be given such a protected status in this game (by the players) as it often is.
I want to clarify before I post that while the words in the comments on this thread are not unthinkable, it does show the underlying mentality a lot of the people bring to the game when they play.
I think a lot of the problem speach could be cleaned up too if some of the worst offenders simply **********d before they logged in...seriously.

I tried getting my gf to play Eve online, she took the 14 day trial, played 3 days worth and went back to U****a Online to decorate her house and look after her pets.
(The **** were added on purpose, no free advertising of other games tyvm)

I do not plan on going. However i will not believe this unless pictures are posted. And if those pictures dont involve at the least 'decent' looking women, I wont believe it at all!
Eris know that by putting this there most of the males will be expecting at least something

Exactly. Maybe it's where I live (British Columbia) that I just don't get it. What about the convention specifically makes it more male? Wouldn't events generally be neutral? While not a gaming convention specifically I knew people involved in Vcon(http://vcon.ca) in past that were both male and female. I never noticed any mention really of female or male specific activities.(that includes the gamer stuff)

Its 1 high slot.. 2 midslots and 2 low slots.
What modules are you going to fit in there? Smartbomb in the high, perhaps a couple of extenders in the mids, but how about Damage or tank mods in the lows?
