Hmmz, which reminds me...
36. Reduction in bio size to (???) characters. Why ? Was space on the server getting THAT tight ?
37. EVE-mails maxsize STILL BUGGED at 1500 max characters. Used to be 4000 characters, and then it was "accidentally" reduced (claimed to have been unintentional, alongside the actual nice change of not letting you type more than the max number of characters that coul be sent instead of being able to, but receiver getting a truncated mail). To this day, months after this bug appeared (it WAS admited it was a bug, so don't get there), nothing was done to correct it.
38. a less frequent occurence bug SOME pilots/corps have been experiencing: people can't see their OWN corpmails (the ones they sent themselves).

Edited by: UPA Terf on 23/06/2007 18:32:14 I think a little bit of devils advocate is needed here
1) Im playing on vista and its running absolutely fine except:
2) The usual patchday things (random crashes it happened on xp and its actually happening less on vista) ..it happens its temporary deal with it.
3) my overview settings seem fine and its not a massive downside to a game where you are mostly sitting around anyway
4) Bio cutdown wouldnt be that much of a problem if people didnt want to write novels in the bloody things! i dont care about damages/defense/mission types if i did i would look on the forums.
5)When it comes to level 5 missions THEY ARE NEW. How could they see how well they work and test them on a large stage without putting out at least a basic version first? Just wait im quite sure by now they understand that cap ships should be allowed in the missions and im quite sure that ccp is aware that its not working as it should.
Im sorry there isnt as much as usual to complain about but dragging up such minor issues is beneath the whining ability of these forums, bring on the BoB threads again and while i wont read them im sure they are full of useful information. I'm pleased that Rev 2 brings so much new content to the game, and grateful for all the hard work that the devs have done, but if your're mainly interested in mining, production and trading, and not combat or missions, there doesn't seem to be much on offer.
New things to produce and consume other than ships and weapons (battleship fuel, perhaps?), a change to the ice mining system to make it less boring (i.e. the ability to mine smaller chunks, though I don't want to see a change in the amount needed to refine), new things to mine in high-sec, etc.
Oh well.

Don't be a snark. We're not in the dark of ages of PnP RPGs. Every mission has an ID and you could spend the time in putting together a dbase tool to correct the error. Run it during maintenence and the problem is corrected.
I had to do something like that in graduate school. Took about 15 hours to write the whole thing. And I had to learn dBaseIII+ to do it. (Yeah, I'm old.)
Just tossing in the towel and saying "to freakin' bad customer" is just ****-poor customer service. No matter how much you want to fanboi the situation.

Edited by: Smakko on 23/06/2007 18:57:17 Too bad I didn't get to this thread before the trolls, because this is a constructive and thoroughly assembled OP. There's so much generally unconstructive braindead trolling (if you're gonna troll, then at least do it with some panache) that I think Akita's point stand's undisputed: Rev 2 is screwy. If someone wants to post a list of things they love about Rev 2, then be my guest, but for my part I would have been alot happier if CCP had left this one in the oven for a while longer. It could have been the best release ever, but instead it became further evidence that CCP is much better at thinking up new features than they are implementing them.
Oh and also, ITT, idiots who think OP is whining and secretly hates the game.... and have contributed less to EvE in their entire flying careers than Akita T has in one of her many meticulously crafted posts on various subjects.

3) if you think the default overview settings are fine you don't PvP, and you probably don't mine either. WTF you probably just don't know how to setup an overview properly. The rest of us that play the game have multiple saved overview sets ready to go and our drones saved in folders. Redoing them everytime EvE gets expanded may or may not be necessary given the changes to the codebase, but is it really that hard to not bash all of a user's settings?
4) oh, so now bios are evil? "I don't care about them so noone else can." If CCP is so concerned about bio size, then they could have alerted all players a few days in advance that they were going to shrink the allotted space. Then people could have saved things to their notes if they hadn't already. Instead, it just happens, and no word from CCP why it was done... frustrating, but typical.
5) You are quite sure? Can you post a link to the dev blog, or official CCP post where you saw this information? Or perhaps it was a conversation with a dev? Or perhaps it's simply that you believe CCP is aware of these issues without being made aware by the playerbase?
If the case is that you believe that CCP is generally aware of playability issues without the help of the player community then by that rationale they release all these bugged features fully aware that they don't work as intended, and are therefore satistied with the shoddy quality of delivered product.
Did you help test stuff on Sisi? Were you one of the few players, committed to helping CCP sort out new features, that logged onto the test server, plays with new features and faithfully bug reports them? I'm guessing not, nor are the other trolls ITT who are proclaiming the original post a mere whine.

Also, since the devs don't seem inclined to keep up with a real "known issues" page, I see no problem at all with the users keeping a thread going with them. Especially if it gets updated.

I havent found many bugs yet, but those i have found are just so annoying. Like my own pos shooting me (Petitioned, ship replaced good as new). Yah..i set it up, use it as a safehaven. What happens? Pew Pew. Stupid thing.
Alot of the bugs there are (not personal opinions), youd think the QA folks would catch a few? Is there even anyone working in QA? Or is that just the name on the janitor's closet? Bah....CCP..QA..look into it, we are not your test dummies.
For being so supposedly so caring of the state of their own game..CCP really sucks at the follow through eh?

Edited by: PasVader on 23/06/2007 19:26:59 firstly if i dont mine or pvp what the hell do i do all day? if you cant tell me then dont make assumptions. The overview settings get wiped sometimes im sure you arent so busy you cant check a few boxes.
secondly this is purely your own opinion. Granted i dont see bios as a place to tell a story because usually there isnt enough time to read them. But i wasnt pointing out this fact i was pointing out that there is a lot of information in them that doesnt have to be.
thirdly i use something brand new you might have heard about it called common sense. If i was making a table i would make sure i could do the basics before adding decoration which basically adds up to if the missions dont work then ok im sure they know and will fix them my opinion was based on several threads coming up with the title of "problems with rev 2" not just your friends.
i belive ccp is aware of the issues with the new expansion seeing as there are things called "bug reports" and "petitions" these usually arent involved in the world you seem to live in i know but they tell people about problems with a game. And why the innane questions?

you are acting like i just ruined something you did and yes when someone complains about something again and again without looking at the millions of other threads about it yes it is a mere whine sorry for criticising your friends and the game you seem to have some delusion about but this is my opinion and it stands.

Add #39, overview/local settings still bugged, showing up "red skulls" for people with positive secstatus (when that icon is reserved for -5.0 secstatus pilots)... just happened to me minutes ago in Heorah (with Noxin Azur, in local, when he entered the system ; undocking and redocking solved the problem, he now shows up normal). You know i think less than half of your list was actual bugs.
I see most of them as opinions, things you personally dont like, things you THINK should be a certain way, and at least one you included just to whine even more.
For example, i actually like how the new UI looks. And also, you can edit your shortcut so EVE uses the old cache location, as stated in the patch notes if you took some time to read it instead of whining on the forums.
You could hardly have choosen a worst example. The question about the UI is not like/don't like. It is about readability.
As most people playing EVE hasn't perfect 20/20 vision, 21"+ screens and so on, a system vere there are 12-13 softly lighted, pulsing icons, against a bright backround, is about the worst choice possible.
There is people playing EVE on laptop. Do you think they can really see what modules are active at first glance?
Checking if every module is active while fighting moving the pointer over every module in turn is a big time waster (even more as now you have 2 inactive/active status) upo to 10 seconds if you have a good number of active modules. And 10 wasted seconds can spell death for your ship.

My list of things that needs fixing urgently:
1. The UI... Bad, bad, bad, BAAADDDD!!! 2. Did I mention the UI? 3. Have to make sure I mention the UI!
Apart from that, a fairly successful update.... There are a lot of smaller issues that needs taken care of, but nothing as urgent as the above.
Comments to a few of Akita's points: 5. Look above :-p 10. Minor issue! Will be fixed, so not really worth any complaints. 11. Makes those corp more attractive, so no problem really! 12. Yeah, CCP should adjust the price in LP/ISK dependent on how popular an offer is. If popular, price goes up. If not, price goes down. 13. I see absolutely no problem! It's nice that players have to CHOOSE what they train so we all don't have the same skills. 17. Considering the effect of bombs, the price and restrictions are ok. 18. Yeah, needs fixing. 20. Just don't place them in high-sec. The (small) risk of going through gates to get to your mission still needs to be there.
Most of your other points aren't really things thats wrong with Rev2, but just bugs that weren't fixed from earlier, or just your pet annoyances. I agree with some, not with others.....
Oh yeah, and... VISTA SUX!
Tbh, I'd have preferred that CCP had concentrated more on fixing the bugs/annoyances that has been here a long time, some of them for years, instead of adding a lot of new stuff.... ...and don't give me the tired bull excuse of it being 'different teams'. It's simply a matter of priorities....

Im starting to agree that I would like something done about the module on/off effect. Yesterday I had real problems seeing which one of my guns were active. I spent a lot of time checking my guns instead of checking the distance to the enemy and trying to keep my speed up.
In short, I would like some kind of change too.

Just two things..
1. UI/HUD The speed indicator is laggy and i hate it. I dont see which of my modules are active on some backgrounds (the green light is to weak) Its hard to hit the overload tab on modules with the mouse.
2. Look at (its an old one..) Why cant I zoom my camera to a smaller ship when I'm in a bigger one ?

ive noticed much more lag then before in missions specialy when opening and transfering items from wrecks
sound loops sometimes (the sound when u lock a ship) enable/disable sound from menu fixes this
the module button colors are realy hard to see if active you can barely see it
all the bookmarks and all the saved UI settings are gone (as said before happens with every patch)
i also saw that the UI displayed a +5.0 char with a red minus.

Add #39, client STILL loses synch with server in a bad way ("You must be X m away from <object> to activate <whatever>, <object> is zilion meters away"). You'd think they would have solved that SOMEHOW by now, after years this bug's been around. The best part is that the client seems to issue "approach" commands based on LOCAL object locations (so, "approach location xx,yy,zz") instead of commands to "approach item ID#xxx"... so obviously, you're out of luck. _ New char creation guide | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

Meh, that's close to unsolvable with the current "rules of the market". Reason is simple... people WILL go to Jita IV-4 CN to trade stuff (either buy whatever they need, or sell their loot). And they will continue to do so for as long as "logged into Jita" is still not completely breaking the game/client permanently.
As long as you still need to PSYSICALLY go to the solarsystem in question, Jita will be a lagfest. As soon as they introduce the "Interbus constellation/region delivery service" they talked about (yeah, why haven't they?), as long as it's not too expensive and doesn't take ages to deliver things to another system, Jita will quiet down a lot.
