I read the death report and it was by kleptomaniacs corp and i got killed by a trachyoen or w.e beam. :( arrg, im never going into unprotected galaxys again.

indeed, which begs the question, why on earth were you autopiloting through lowsec? warp to zero is your friend, also never take your eyes off local and your overview.

.... ever try warp to zero? auto pilot is for when you are going afk and you could care a less about the stuff you are hauling, your ship and your pod.
orange means he kills people, but not enough to flash red <disclaimer: 0.0 pilots do not lose sec status for killing people, so a 0.0 resident on a lowsec adventure could be a horrible pirate with a positive 5.0 standing>
other than that, congrats you got killed, it will happen again.

NPC's in game are typicly a red + symbol in your overviews. Players are boxes. the larger the symbol, the larger their ships.
