Jolo,
What is your Internet connection? If you upgraded that 14.4k modem, you might not experience quite as much lag. It does not matter how fast your computer is, if your Internet connection is not up to it...

Upgrading a modem wont help, fyi EVE is rate capped. This is so broadband users have no advantage over modem users.
It's a known fact that nodes can't handle large player gatherings. You've only got to look at what happened during the Amarr champion ceremony. When 'CCP' limited the number of players allowed in to the system. This was done to stop the node from falling over, basically.
You only have to read the posts from large PvP corps and alliances that all state 'EVE can not handle large fleet battles'.
All in all very disappointing from what the game promises to deliver and the last few days have seen very poor server performance.
Tbh, I think telewest was a very poor choice as a service provider. As far as I'm aware they have no experience in the field of MMOG's and have a somewhat poor reputation in the UK, formally being C&W.
I have broadband but still experience lag, probably due to the fact that telewest don't seem to have many piering aggrements in place, so I'm route via NY when I only live 50 odd miles from London. And I'm not on some poxy small time ISP, they're the largest supplier of adsl outside BT.
It's just a shoddy set up

i had 2 people sat on my dsl connection playing eve, a 2gig 512meg gf4 and a intel 1.5m 512meg radeon carded laptop .. both machines capable of playing eve happily, the only problems i had were loading up after crashing out.. (my installs been patched too many times :D need to reinstall it and clear the cache (nothing like a clean install every-so-often).. i found the frigate march to be excellent and enjoyed it past myself getting corpsed at b-vips (i was in a fast rifter.. almost got to the gate :D ).
I also think that events like this are beneficial to CCP as they get a chance to monitor, bug track, plan and impliment features to make big meets run more smoothly..
i think coming on this forum and whining is beginning to get a little old.. the amount of people that moaned and quit out at eram .. if you would have waited until someone grabbed the march by it's ears and pulled it along (cheers conquest) right up to the FA slaughter then you.. like me, would have had an ace time :D
all that needs to be said now is.. whens the next one :D

Ok.
Tell me, were there any GM's, Polaris or Devs there?
If there were all is well and fine and I'd hope to see an improvment in network performance. If they weren't there, and btw I think this was floating around the forums for quite a while, then how will they know the effect it actually has when youre in a system with nearly 200 ships?
[EDIT] No my mistake C&W was bought by NTL, Telewest owned the now defunked Blueyonder, they had some good gaming servers, but always had problems they could never iron out. The people running these were made redundant and as far as I'm aware would have had nothing to do with EVE. |

forgive me, it was late and i didnt have time to check everyone entering and exiting the nearby systems, i couldnt possibly say yes or no. and i doubt neither could you. The only people that could tell you are the people you mentioned above.

they've got logs i tells ye.. logs for everything.. and things, things that monitor!.. Even when (shock horror) they're not floating around space or sat infront of the servers!. The more instances of larger battles and meets the more information and usefull feedback they're going to get back. And thats surely good isnt it?

Yep I saw him as well
Constructive criticism is always useful and should be treated as such, however a lot of the posts on this thread come across a whinging bandwidth wastage.
I really enjoyed the Frigate March and didn't experience any real problems with lag, just took longer for the screen to load.
Hope they run another one

Someone asked if there was any GM polaris there...
I arrived amongst the first few players, and i noticed both a Game Master, A Polaris AND a Polaris Lead.. (Red, Green and Teal text in local) They dissapeared when the lag came.. a little like rats on a sinking ship, one may say

Here is what I just did to fix the lag... I cancelled my subscription. I have lost two Ravens in the last two weeks fully decked out with tech II stuff. It took me a long time to build up to them and I get blown up first in a LVL 3 mission and then two weeks later in a LVL 4 mission because I am not able to do anything. Once I finally warp in, I am already blown up. This program sucks. So the best way to solve the lag is to quit. I will take my $20 a month US, and play a different game. Taurus 6345 signing out... for good!
