Hahaha once again, we are shown how eve CANNOT handle more than 50-100 players in one place.
Took 4 minutes to load the system, then I warp to the station, and no one is there. then 10 people appear 4 minutes later athen disappear, then my ship begins to add models to it.
The area is filled with grids so no one can see each other, we can't approach teh station because the station is in another grid. all in a all, a huge joke.
NEXT!
Can you imagine if this was a war? ---------------------------------------

Dude, when you organise an Event.. Be sure to be there yourself...
I found myself playing Rubber Duck infront of several hundred Frigates and other ships... Then i got bitten by the LAG devil.. mutated ship and all..
However, i did see almost 200 ships before things turned bad.. :-/

The Devs have continously noted that lag is is client side only and not server side. I still have doubts about that. Though I would have assumed you would crash every node from start to end of your journey. ------------------

well you should get better comps and better connections because i did not much of a problem at all. and if u came all the way to face the FA then u would not have mined the so called lag. we did get hammerd but it all was fun. fun 2 die u might not say so but it was fun for all who were there. thxs for the great event

WasnĘt optimistic about the lag after hearing the horror stories, but was surprised, didnĘt affect me too much, just load up took longer, and a bit of fps loss (But not significantly).

FPS dropped from 25 usually to around 5 to 15. took a good 2 minutes to load, but then it was playable! I was seeing both the station, and the dozens of ships following Gilbert. That was an impressive sight btw!!!
Fly safely 'mam, and get someone to fix that headlight!

I laugh at people who say they need better comps. my 2 ghz athlon xp and radeon 9700 pro can handle it fine. It's eve's fault, either client or server side. I don't care. Something just needs to be done to allow events to occur at all.
All you people who could see things were lucky. You were in the right grid that didn't cause lag or missing/merging ships.
I stayed for 10-20 minutes and saw 2 ships at the station, the lag or grid caused the ships to disappear or just never appear.
Sorry for my depressing outlook, but I really wanted for once in this game, to participate in a event. For the first time I was actually near enough to partiipate. But, i was let down.
Bottom line: Events in eve cannot work unless around 30 people participate. over that and you get serious problems. Even on computers with 2 ghz processors and near top of the line video cards.

It's worth pointing out that any gathering of players mean the servers have to keep every single client aware of what each of the N clients are doing (where N is the number of clients)
This requires a number of messages in the vicinity of N to the power of 2. In plain english, 100 players all doing something at the same time will generate around ten thousand messages that all have to be pumped out by the same node and fed through the 'net.
Just trying to point out what you're asking of CCP here :-)

When I got there there was about 170 ships and counting... When I left there where about 202. I found it un playable so I left. I certainly dont believe for a second that any part of the game can efficiantly handle 200 players occupying the same space - dont care what 'your' experiance was. Madder of fact, I would be surprised if the 'cluster' could handle 200 players occupying the same space all off of CCP's local lan. Just my two cents - you may now flame.

Something to add instead of just ragging on CCP. I believe it would work out better with a little more organization. Theres plenty of room in in the universe so why not next time select a group of systems to create squadrons in, say 40 ships per system. Have a main channel for the squad leaders to convo in only and have the different squad channels. One or two members of each squad would be responcible for broadcasting the current squadron count so others would know which system to join. As the squad leaders head into space they keep in contact with one another so each squadron is exactly one jump away from the other. It could also be bennificial to set up some VOIP (voice over IP) before launch time between the squad leaders and potentially between the squad members. Hrm think im gonna go post in another forum concering setting up control connections for voice through the grid :)
