If you could only NAP one Corp or Alliance?

Gunship Amarr FATAL REVELATIONS FATAL Alliance	Posted - 2007.06.25 18:09:00 - [1] If you could only NAP one Corp or Alliance, who & how would that effect eve? One further rule, only way to set someone to negative standing should be on a personal level, max 10 (see my own reply for why this would be a good idea). 1) Who would you set to blue and why? 2) If CCP changed the game and a standing set took 24hours or perhaps even 5 days to implement, so not easily abused, how would that change the game? Ill go firstà First, I would properly select our neighbour alliance, since they are close to us and old friends. Second I think it would make eve more FUN, yes written in caps since that why I play. If I look at example the battles in S-E of late we have a typical example of 8+ alliances on each side classing resulting in endless hours on TS building up fleets only to have the outcome dictated largely by lag. (btw. This in not a flame, I fully respect our enemies and there skill/resolve). Now calling targets in a battle would become a bit of a nightmare for both sides if 6+ of your ôfriendsö showed up neutral. This should limit the engagements to a 2v2, limit the numbers and limit the use of POSes since the system owner would have to take an active part in most cases at least. Hopefully this would also help to lead away from the whole ôThe Allianceö versus ôThe Coalitionö or 5v1 scenarios. Expectantly it would be trickier to have ôpetö corps using your 0.0 space and you actually would have to make a choice about having them as part of your alliance or not. Yes they might not look good on your kill-board, unless you make them your friends and work together! à if they are worth ità Ultimate I hope if the above was reality it would result in more regional engagements of a lesser size and in return less lag, limit the bandwagons and for sure stop the NAP fests. It would not stop you have a word of mouth agreement with others, but it likely to limit cross-border traffic. ItÆs not unreasonable to assume that some alliances may merge as a result of such a change and take away some of the effect, but that might not be a bad thing, we have 4 empires (5 with Jove), but how many alliances? One more question, just for fun, do you think a wipe of the standings database would create more or less space than when they deleted the instant jump bookmarks? No big drama all over the board. They arent pets. Just sheer coolness. 2) I think it should take a week. Standings is standings. You shouldnt just be able to change your standings as you like. Wow. And im first in a gunship thread

They have been our closest friends and we have stood by each other through the good and the bad. Granted...this duo isn't going to "win EVE," but that isn't all that matters. Now, loyalties aside, I think it would be a blast to be NAP'ed/allied with the likes of Outbreak or MC. The first-hand experience of flying with them is something that holds interest for me as an individual pilot in this game. Flying against them has certainly been a notable experience.

Imposing more or less artificial limits on standings be it friends or enemies would just take away from this. I mean surely you can't come up with a viable reason why one can only have so many friends.. or enemies. I don't think it would encourage diversity and localized conflicts as you do, but sooner or later we'd probably see a few huge alliances dominate.. smal fish have no way to make friends, (who'd spend one of their few "friend slots" on an insignificant entitie?) and will sooner or later be evicted. Putting in a timer for standings would be pretty tricky as well. Maybe if standings were mutual without the possibility of human error, wich is pretty unrealistic in itself. Having to wait a few days to set someone red after you realize you got set to red yourself would be BAD. PS. Do people only read the subject on these forums?

Moreover the lag was mutual yesterday and the day before that. The first time we were affected as we jumped, the second time it was you. Also i do not think that anything like that should be implimented just because the server cannot support 300 ppl fight. I mean if the battles must be 10vs10 they should beter make eve single player game. Continuing, considering the timezones and the avaluability of players an 1 alliance vs 1 alliance or eve 2vs2 would produce such a rediculous firepower that the towers and thier guns would be indestructable. To answere your Question now. If i was in possition to Nap or ally only one alliance, that alliance would be MM. In my short time in 0.0 i got to like those guys more.

Large alliances would simply require their members to include alliance tags on overview, and have declared NAPs based on that. If you don't like not being able to shoot people, join a corp/alliance that has fewer blues.

And are always willing to mix it up in fleet battles Id love for ccp to find a way to cure the lag issues in eve without runing the purity of the game or turning battles into tounaments by limiting numbers in a system. It is an interesting paradox that eve players hate lag but refuse to negotiate a limited fleet battle or several to decide the outcome of say a pos or system. I personaly would hate such limits and hope that there will be a way to deal with the fleet battle lag that otherwise ruins a amazing and incredably enjoyable game.
