Hi all, I'm kinda new to PvP and Pirating. This is the first post I've made here. So be gentle with the flames.
Being a young pirate I headed over to a low-sec pocket in Sinq Lasion today. I found myself in Crielere. I was tracking down a Merlin when I noticed he was with 2 Caracals and 1 Moa. I figured I couldn't really take them all on so decided to leave the moon I was scanning from. Just as I engaged my warp drive all 4 of them warped to the moon. I was well into warp before they had a chance to catch me.
I said in local "Sorry, but 4 is little too much for me. Happy hunting" The one guy said he wanted to 1v1 me. I've never done this before and was only in a Rifter with T1 and a few named things. I figured what the hell, knowing full well it could be a trap.
So we ganged and I had him warp to where I was. I caught him on scanner coming to me in a Caracal. I figured I can take that ship so I started orbiting and was laying into his shields something fierce. Sure enough in warps 3 more Cruisers and they start pounding me. Now I continue to fire until my shields are gone. My small Armor Repper was losing ground even with the aid of a Damage Control Module. At this point I knew I wasn't going to win this one. I tried to warp. Damn it warp jammed. So I picked a distant planet and started heading toward it. When the last guy was 20km away...I went to warp. After arriving....I remembered I was still ganged. I left that and set up for another planet. I continued hopping and made a couple safe spots.
The funny thing is they were calling me a wuss in local. He said come back and we could 1v1 for real.
So the lesson is....
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Welcome to eve. There is successful traps, and there is people who couldnt PVP even if it would hit em in their face.
You have learned a good lesson. 4 idiots cannot take 1 able pilot, and 1 able pilot on a smaller ship cannot take 4 idiots on bigger ships.
Next ask some friends to wait in the other system nearby, and go to planet which is close to the gate where your friends are waiting, and once the imcompetent noobs come to "trap" you, show them how its done, tackle with a faster ship than theirs, and get your friends to give em hell.
On sidenote, nice runaway, they must have been shooting heavy missiles those noobs...

Yeah. I kind of figured it was going to be a trap. I ransomed a Caracal the day before and killed some guy in a Worm two days before that. It was a slow night so I need to get the blood flowing a little. Even though he said it was going to be a Frig fight I knew I could take the cruiser so I engaged. I was hoping to kill him before his buddies had a chance to get there, but it didn't work out that way. I bet they forget they weren't PvEing and just sat there as I made my escape.
Oh well. I set him -10 and next time I see him alone, or with more favorable odds, he's mine.

Best way to do 1vs1 is to make a random safe spot tell him to leave the gang and add in to your gang so budys can't warp to him.

Sad to see this kind of stuff happening so much lately, i asked some guy earlier from CVA if he wanted a 1v1 his stabber vs my arbitrator, he said no, then he came back a few minutes later in a hurricane and asked me to 1v1 him
i said okay, told him to make a safe spot and gang me, he gangs me 30 seconds later and i warp to him and end up at a POS :-\
good job on getting out of the trap tho

If they initiated agression first - the caracal pilot in the 1:1; I'd have left gang on, then warped to a Stargate and start smacking in local. Chances are they were stupid enough to warp to you ... :P Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels and filesize of 24000 bytes -Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) |

Nice story.
Post these fools' name here please. So we can all point at them and laugh.
This is one of the reasons why I rarely do 1 v 1s.
However, well done for facing down superior numbers. I fly a rifter-class frigate most of the time and I guess if you weren't webbed; you had enough speed to get the 'f' out.
Next time, have gang mates in a nearby system or you be the gang leader and you send the invites out.
Anyway, happy hunting. I wouldn't mind popping back over to Crielere. Once again, post their names here please.

Edited by: DutchGunner on 26/06/2007 09:51:46 Nice job on the getaway.
I won't claim to be a anti-pirate. But when i offer a 1 on 1 fight, i always keep it, even if i am loosing it. It's a real shame that so many people or abusing the intention of a 1 on 1 fight, just to make sure they can get a target and kill it.
They give the people who try to pirate the outlaws (in other words try to kill them and take their stuff )a bad name.
Nice job though, once more

Nope I initiated so I'm guess I'm lucky he didn't gang warp me to a gate. After docking I checked the info on these fools a little better. Most of them were 1 to 2 months old. Not that they couldn't be alts. Two of them were in the same Corp.

Thanks, but is it common practice to post peoples names here? The last game I played they didn't approve of that on the forums. I can't do it now as I'm getting ready for work anyways. Maybe when I get home.
Originally by: Raven Starchild The lesson is never trust anybody - especially a pirate.
I guess you could be right. I'd just like to think there might be a little "honor among thieves", or pirates in this case.
Honestly I think those guys should go back to hi-sec and keep can flipping and ore stealing for a few months. Its obvious they don't have the SP or skills to fly those Caracals. I could throw myself in a Cruiser if I really wanted to, but I'm enjoying my Rifter very much. Not to mention have plenty of other skills to focus on.

I wouldn't. If the guy wants to know, eve-mail him the names. Adding peoples names on the forums usually just results in a flame-war, unless it's a good thing about them.
Anyway, nice story, and lesson learned Rifter ftw. ---

Said by a gentleman with the name "LovesToPwnU"... Indeed...
I think that just having the balls to engage four cruisers in a frigate and then successfully getting out when you realise that sticking around is gonna be suicide deserves a GJ. He may not be a high SP character, but he seems to have got the intelligence and the attitude. The fact you couldn't kill a rifter in four cruisers does not give you the right to be bitter. ----------------------------------------------

well of course he overexaggerated the story... there was only 2 cruisers and a frigate, and he warped out with barely any structure so it was pure luck

Damn they suck... a caracal fitted for duel can very easily kill a rifter. 4 cruisers should have managed to instapop you , at least with drones...
Looks like you can take advantage of people underestimating you at your stage. Fly a speedy bellicose when you have the SP for it , and kills should come to you. Underrated ship = higher odds of engaging crap fitted overrated ships.

Not to mention that he didn't said anything the OP posted was wrong so lets check:
- Dishonouring a 1v1: check - Smacking the guy in the worst ship after he made a succesfull getaway from your crap "trap": check - Showing your face on the forums so that the OP doesn't need to name you: check
Looks like we have a real winner here!

So it was a 3 v 1? Yet you still could not take out a single frigate? One should show some grace and say 'well done, we'll get you next time!' rather than this tripe.
Fact is, the OP managed to dodge a poorly-planned, badly-executed, incompetently-led 'trap'.
You got pwned.

Only 2 cruisers and a frigate And you still couldn't kill a rifter.
He said you smacked him afterwards, and here you are again telling him to go back to empire. Really mate...you and your "gang" are the ones that need to head to empire and re-enroll in Flying School.
He was offering you a frig vs cruiser 1v1...and you still needed to bring mates
