You really don't need guns on a Myrmidon for level 4 mission running. Sure, it'll speed things up a bit, but not enough, IMO, to warrent using them instead of fielding some salvagers and tractors. Salvaging can dramatically increase (at least 50% more) the amount of ISK you make on a level 4 mission. That is factoring in everything you'd make from mission reward, bounties, and normal loot... collect salvage and you'll make at least an additional 50%, if not more.
The recent nerf to battlecruiser shield recharge times only moderately affects their ability to passive shield tank... Drakes and Myrmidon's can still make beastly tanks, although I do believe the Myrmidon's is stronger than the Drakes and the Myrmidon can dish out significantly more damage. If you want to run level 4 missions in a BC then I whole-heartedly suggest using a Myrmidon.
As for being able to walk away AFK from missions, do watch out. They've changed a lot of missions so that the NPCs warp in at different times. I used to be able to agro an entire area in level 4 missions and then release my drones and basically go AFK and know that I'd be fine and the most of the NPCs would be dead... now I can't do that anymore due to the new NPCs warping in and targeting my drones. I'm still safe from NPCs in most level 4 missions with my passive tank, but my drones will get killed if I don't manage them and watch for new NPCs.
As for which drones to use... I used Hammerhead IIs through level 1-3 missions and even on some level 4 missions. I found they didn't do so well on the level 4 missions so I went to Ogre Is until I could use the IIs. Now I typically will pack 4 Ogre IIs, 1 Hammerhead II, and a few Goblin IIs. I normally deploy the 4 Ogre IIs and the Hammerhead II, but if I have very fast frigates or the like swarming me (e.g.: spider IIs) I'll pull out the goblin IIs and sic them on them. In actual fact, Ogre IIs can take down Spider IIs, but it does take a while for them to do so.
In my high slots I typically have 1 civilian gatling gun (no ammo, used to get agro), 1 NOS (not really needed, but keeps my cap high even when I have all tractors and salvagers running), 2 salvagers and 2 tractors.
My mids are 1x DG Invuln Field (a tech 2 one does fine too) and the rest LSE IIs.
My lows are 1x PDU II and the rest SPR IIs. The PDU gives me just enough cap, with my current skills, to run the invuln field non-stop if I want to.
My rig slots of course are filled with field purgers and I have the 5% implants for shield recharge and hp.
I've never had to warp out of a level 4 mission with this setup. I may not run it as fast as a raven or domi, but the passive setup gives me the flexibility to walk away AFK if my kids need me, or to play poker online and not worry about my ship being blown up if I have to focus on a hand.
