Haverloth stands on the gantry overlooking his Harbinger, watching as the last of the new armour plates are attached onto the massive hull of the ship. Fresh supplies and spare laser crystals are being loaded aboard for an extended deployment, as is a small detachment of Marines. Haverloth is just about to turn away and tend to some paperwork when the action station klaxons start to sound. The familiar voice of Legatus Portos is heard from the tannoy system. ôThis is the Legatus. Praetorians, make ready your ships. Briefing will be made en-route in 30 minutes. Stand ready for combat.ö Running across the connecting walkway into the ship, Haverloth meets his Executive Officer halfway to the bridge. ôHow soon before we can lift? What is the status of the ship?ö he barks. The XO consults a datatablet for a moment, glancing up to reply. ôWeÆll be ready to go in ten, sir. The reactors are fuelled and primed, and the last of the crew and equipment is shipping aboard. IÆve already had the crew begin pre-flight checks.ö ôGet it done faster XO. I want the ship in the air as soon as possible.ö ôSir.ö Haverloth enters the red-lit bridge, where highly trained crew are already settled into their stations. He sits into his command chair, and lets the shipÆs systems interface with him, looks at the flow of information being provided by the ship. Whilst the last few preflights are made, the XO walks in. ôAll ready to depart sir.ö Haverloth nods, and command crew on the bridge begin calling out OKs for the various ship systems. A whine starts to build in the background as the ship is brought to life. A slight smell of ozone permeates the air. ôEngineering, go.ö ôGunnery, ready.ö ôLife support nominal.ö ôFire control, standing by.ö Haverloth looks around the bridge briefly, and nods once again. ôTaccom, get us permission to depart. Manoeuvring, bring us out. Fire control, begin calibrating those targeters as soon as weÆre out of the lock.ö There is a slight shudder as the maglocks free the ship, her massive bulk wavering for a moment before the thrusters studded around the ship stabilise her. Slowly, majestically, the golden-hulled Harbinger slips out of her moorings, and leaves the station. There is a flare of her engines, as she moves to the designated assembly area. Reports continue to come in from the command deck. ôWarp drives are green.ö ôFire control, calibrations complete.ö ôGunnery, laser batteries charged. Ready to fire.ö The XO glances over a station and looks back at Haverloth. ôAll decks report action stations, sir.ö A slight smile forms on HaverlothÆs face, as he flexes his prosthetic arm. ôTaccom,ö he says, his eye glinting in the harsh red light. ôSignal the LegatusÆ flag. IS Empire Dawn, ready for action.ö ____________________
