Last night I ran the LV4 Angel Extravaganza mission. Its new use of rat ôwavesö was a very significant improvement over the old ôall spawn load at onceö method. Three reasons why this is better:
1) 1/2 - 1/4 of the rats load at a time. Less lag. 2) No chance for drones to accidentally aggro all the spawn at once. Makes missions much more friendly to drone ships. 3) (My Favorite improvement) No more blasting away at one spawn and having all the other rats in the room just sit there and watch their buddies get blown to bits. I always found that mechanic ridiculous and it broke my suspension of disbelief. Now when the trigger is tripped, you get a message in chat about a rat distress call or something and the next wave of rats ôwarp inö. More immersive and much better all around.
Thanks CCP for this simple but significant improvement to at least some of the missions.

Yes, but there are still missions where the other Rats are still sitting while the other is being engaged.
Krul in the Damsel is smacking to you a lot now :)
But is sucks that the Reinforcement Messages are sent in every channel. Signature Your signature exceeds the 24000 byte limit on the forums. -Darth Patches |

Have to agree. It's better design than it was before but that spam in all channels at once is a bit annoying.

I like the missions better, too. Especially reason #3. When they just sat there, it used to just plain annoy me.
Also, I run missions in tandem. I've noticed that both of my characters now get aggro because of these changes. Where, in the past, I'd fly in one and support his tank with the other. Made it kind of simple to out-tank a mission.
Now I've got to pay much more attention. The other day I actually had to warp out of a mission twice. A mission that, pre-change, I'd fly in and pound away with little concern.
A fix I'd like, beyond the channel spamming, is to allow teammates to warp directly once you're in the mission. Thanks to the changes, which I appreciate, having to slow-boat through all those rooms... Sucks major....

Here's the part that totally blows goats about this. Drones! I lose more drones to "triggered" spawns than the mission reward. It's a little re-damn-diculous.

LOL. When the trigger rat gets to 50% structure, recall the drones. ItÆs not rocket science. Of course, I do fly Minmatar, so this may be less of an option if you are in a NOS-DOMINIX and your heavies are 60km away.
ItÆs still better than having your drones cause full room agro and then losing them anyway.

what I don't like about it, is, lets u u just spawned more rats, as you start firing on the first one that targeted you, and he dies, he spawns more, which then now u have 2 full spawns shooting you. This happend durring damsil in distress, and lost my 700 mill mission raven, second spawn popped out a special frig that warp scrammed me, and took 25 seconds to lock............

I really like the less lag part, but I am really quite annoyed that 95% of the time the new wave picks either me, or my drones as the target. Just because I am in a log ship...if I am in a firepower ship it picks the closest person most of the time. I realize that a smart person picks out the healer so that he has a chance at taking out the others, but if the NPCs are going to be smart, shouldn't they do so all the time?
Plus, it isn't like I have a great tank, although it is DEFINITELY better since Rev 2 (thanks, CCP!)
So I like parts of it better, but not all of it. Seems like that is a pretty good compromise, cause you are never going to please everyone.

It's better in most ways but sucks for people who agress the whole room and release drones so they won't get aggro. This way they make sure your drones get killed.
