Gaius Sejanus Gallente Federal Navy Academy	Posted - 2007.06.28 08:30:00 - [3] Pre-Rev2: Connections skillbooks were only offered during a narrow window between 15,000 and about 22,000 LP with a given agent. The offer itself was quite rare. I got a High Tech Connections offer a couple of weeks before Rev2 came out, this is after 7 months of feeding a level 3 agent, doing 1 mission, and only ever 1 mission between offers, so as to maximize the time that my LP were in the necesary range. I didn't track the number of offers/missions, but it was in excess of 20. I don't know how typical that is. Consequence1: People running L1 and L2 agents would just take too long to get to 15K LP, so they'd not see the offers. Consequence2: People running L4 missions would just blow right past the sweet spot for the offer in about 3 missions, and they would not see the offers. Consequence3: As a result of C1 and C2, almost nobody got those offers. Statement: Things in EVE that are rare, are -really- expensive. Especially when they are useful things. Now with the LP store, people doing L4s are no longer blocked out from the books, and 15K LP/10M ISK is chump change in both categories, particularly since the book lets you pay off the LP cost quite fast. New Consequence: Massive supply = plummeting prices.

I got the books by destroying a structure (I think it was a habitat) in a mission (Stop the thief?). I dont think they were available as offers before and so didn't appear in the lp shop. Imaos

I have alot of LP with various Fed Navy factions, and so I see alot of those sort of faction things, but the LP store for each Corp appears to be slightly different. Do a mission for another corp (just a level 1 or something) and then the LP store for that corp will appear. See if their store has what you're looking for. If not? Move on to another corporation. Of course, It's all about me.

Did they split up? Yes. The faction store varies from corp to corp. Navies tend to have different rewards than research corps. But science skill books != connection skill books. Actually LP are worth, in ISK, the most someone can get out of them for the best/highest-demand offers at that moment in time. If someone chooses to take a lower offer for purposes of selling (or arguably even using) the item, they have lost value.

It's not perfect in that regard. But that's where it seems to be shaking out. So what happened is that you really gave up 25 million isk in value to get a book. Still better than paying 50 million. And glad you got the 40 million. But it wasn't quite the 4-to-1 trade it appears. Have not looked at Kaalakiota buy orders tho but as patch notes did not mention 'removal of some NPC buy orders from market' then I would expect them to be still there.
