Best movie ever made is Blade Runner: Directors Cut. Nuff said.
Other greats.
Evil Dead 2 -- can watch it 1000 times and still awesome. Tombstone -- Too awesome to go into any detail Aliens -- Almost as good as Blade Runner but missing that certain something. T2 -- Arnold should have retired after this one. Empire Strikes Back. -- I want Vader to be my Dad. Best line in movie history. "Join me and together we can rule the galaxy as father and son!" Who could say no to that?!! come on!

High Plains Drifter - I mean, the dude without a name walks into town and in less than ten minutes he kills people, rapes a woman, and takes control of the whole town. And the ending is hilarious. It's truly one of the greatest westerns ever made.

You know, much as I love the others, I think that "For A Few Dollars More" is the real gem of the trilogy.
Agree with a lot of what others have said ... The Usual Suspects is one of the best of all time. It's going to be the first film I buy when I get my HDTV setup.
Never really got on with Blade Runner for some reason though.
I find it very hard to make a definitive list of best films, because a lot of the truly great "first watches" are not so great when watched again. So, if you haven't seen these yet, I'd strongly recommend them:
The Jacket (Keira Knightley) Crash (Not the car crash David Cronenburg one) A History Of Violence The Green Mile
.. could go on all night, but I'll keep it at four!

Personally my list could actually go on for a while. I've got about 150 movies on vhs that I could quote word for word and up to 70 movies on dvd.
I'll add another though - Payback

The Matrix was brilliant. Loved Brazil, and Twelve Monkeys was a great film too. Loved Fight Club back when I first saw it.
I struggle to think of films of the top of my head, though. Will come back if think of more --------

Yaggh don't mention that movie. I saw the asian one first, "Infernal Affairs," and after that The Departed just seemed wrong. I never really liked American gangster culture, only the Italian and Asian types. At least they stick by truisms and have some type of code of honor.
Yi Yi is one of my favorites that probably won't get mentioned here.

Matrix (first or the third, the second was kinda pointless) 4. Starship Troopers (no-one can actually take this film seriously, its so cheesy, but its great entertainment) 5. Sin City
Edit: switched the 5th 'cuz I couldnt remember its name. ___________________________________ You can either choose to agree the above, or distribute your own opinions, if you do; please flame, I like making people angry.

God i could give 20 that would all quallify for number one and thats without going into anime
I will limit myself to 10
Diehard Matrix Saving Private Ryan Shawshank Redemption Return of the Jedi (hell add the other two) Independence Day (The rant of smith during Day 2 was classic and the final battle was nutz!) Aliens (add in Res.) Gladiator (MAXIMUS MAXIMUS MAXIMUS! need i say any more?) Rocky 2 (Best of the entire set.) Casino (Quite possibly the best mob film ever. And yes i put it in the league of godfather BRING IT!)
There are about another 20 or 30 i could put up there if i thought about it but that is a good list
However here is an obscure one you might like on a good evening alone (rain makes it feel a tad more real actually) The Score. Check that one out.
