I would feel better about buying into this Lottery thingy if I had a better feeling about how the drawings were in-fact being done randomly rather than the money going to whomever the money-holder wanted to win...
...don't get me wrong... I love a good scam too and I only wish I had thought of this first but... how do any of us know that we even have a chance of winning just because we "give money" to the chum who holds the pot... ?!?

Here we go again... I'm only bothering replying to this becuase it's so long ago anyone else has pointed the 'scam' finger (and for good reasons)
Do check the lottery pages - Full stop. It's all explained there how this works and why it's 'rig-proof'.
I *could* chance it, and simply pick whatever name I thought should win it. The risk beeing, that the person with the winning lottery number would spot that, thus not a very good idea....
Again - at least take the time to read the Lottery pages before pointing the 'scam' finger. BIG Lottery

It's a common occurance that "new" players question events such as this.
After all there are plenty of dishonest scammers in Eve. Whom should you trust if any?
A clear benefit of having been part of the community for along time is you start getting to know people - more importantly people who consistantly show they can be trusted. You might call trust and credibility a trademark. You cant just go out there and claim it. You have to earn it by living up to peoples expectation over a long period of time.
For thi reason I always point to the track record of the BIG lottery and the BIG deal whenever people voice their concerns.
The BIG lottery has been running for almost a year now (including beta) frankly with NO benefit to Tornsoul at all - aside from establishing the reputation of being honest.
The BIG deal has been active since august 2003 - a venture only made possible by the beforementioned reputation of being honest.

Edited by: Capn Blood on 22/01/2004 04:32:58 BIG are up front and honest with their lottery. It's been running from the start and there doesn't seem to be any trend as to who's winning.
Heck I even won it once myself
I enter every time and have no worries at all about it being rigged, but I can understand someone new to the BIG Lottery wanting to check around for reference first before playing.
So to sum up...
BIG = good
Well so far as the lottery goes anyway, oh and the BIG Deal for BPCs is good too btw.
Not sure what they are like as people as I've never run across any, so don't go blaming me if they pod you or something ============================================== "Trust no man who says to you that 'The ends justify the means' or who says that 'We will do whatever it takes...'.
